  • I can't believe the Anime, and from the looks of it Project G will be more then just the movie+show expanding to the TCG, made Genesect a Colress creation, but GF still have the same lab event in B2W2. Whats even worse is that whatever events Genesect might get in gen 6 will be tacked on in a messy way, and then forgotten about.
Something about all this says to me that in someway GF were expecting themselves to get away with a 3rd version to B2W2 for the 3DS, but Gen 6 overruled that decision. I mean there is no literal explanation for the mess that is B2W2 lore, and the way the Anime is treating it how it should have been treated in-game.
None of the moves really stood out to me as anything other than a normal type. I thought they were trump card, swift, and double edge.

Sylveon's ability is hidden as well, so I'm still going with what I proposed here, mostly because it gives Game Freak a way out of ever having to make another Eevee. I'm not ruling out a new type in general, I just don't think this one is it.

Though they could still go with mystic type while doing what I suggested.
What. No literally what? Explorers of the Sky had every single one in existence, why did they reduce it to such an extreme? I understand the 3D aspect is taking a toll on many games that made the jump from DS to 3DS, but that's plain ridiculous. Even had most of the Pokemon FFS.
Geometry seems identical, though it's hard to tell. For example, some details like Hariyama's clothing thinness or Krookodile's sunglasses seem the same in both models. The textures are radically different though. There are two wrinkles (those line things) in the center of Hariyama's uniform in the Pokédex 3D texture, whereas there are three (much like in the artwork) in XY.

To be honest, I can't think of any reason they'd invest in new models when Creature's ones are already pretty much perfect. Would TPC charge them to use them perhaps, for example? I doubt that...

Also looking forward to The Lost Diaries! I recently purchased Kanto Symphony and it was fantastic. I hope Skotein does Mew and Mewtwo justice.
Possibly, but it's still early to tell. From what I can see, there aren't geometrical differences between this and this, but that's not really a surprise. The textures are definitely new though, probably made to fit the cell shading more naturally. To be honest, I prefer the promotional videos' shading -- cell shading is cool, but it doesn't beat the clean, colorful and smooth feel of the trailers' models. But I suppose 3DS wouldn't be able to achieve that -- a Wii U game is still necessary, if only for the potential of the battles now that the main games' battle presentation has surprised PBR in animations and camera work (and they would hence have to make something even more dynamic).

Edit: On a second thought, Pikachu's head is noticeable bigger in the XY screenshot, and I'm not sure if it's due to the camera. Those may be different models, after all.
As for my other point, what I'm trying to say is that the Mystic-type doesn't necessarily reflect the how mystical a character is, but rather a species -- and that is based on conventions, much like how Fire-type uses flames as a convention, or the Bug-types are biologically bugs. A character may have had a mystical background regardless to its species and vice-versa. I guess a convention for Mystic-type species may be having fables built around it, like Ninetales and the Clefairy family -- there may be more, this is just an example. When it comes to the Beast Trio, what is mystical about those three is their background as characters, which is exactly what could be said about most many Legendary Pokémon -- that is in contrast to Cresselia, for example, which as species is mixed up in more mystical processes, that of dreams; and in spite of that, the the instance of Cresselia we meet is especially superficial and straightforward.

I feel like I'm phrasing the same thing in different words each time. You'll have to excuse me because it's late and I'm typing from a tablet, which makes the point even harder to get across. :p
Just to be clear, I don't mean that there are multiple instances of each Beast Trio member. But regardless to whether or not there can be, their uniqueness is also not a thing that attaches the species a specifically notable Mystic element. I'd say they are rather grounded as species, which is partly why they are such brilliant characters.

The comparison to Cresselia doesn't do the latter justice, in that it is designed to be out-of-world-ish and mystical, but its character ultimately fails to achieve that. It.s the other way round for the Beast Trio.
That's irrelevant to the species, however. Those specific Entei, Suicune and Raikou were ressurected by Ho-Oh. For all we know, a, say Raikou, from another canon could have a completely different background. Types are supposed to be universal and unrelated to characters.

I'd also argue that a Mystic-type attribute would be unrelated to whether or not a Pokémon can be mystical per se. I mean, would you imagine a Clefairy being more mystical than Moltres? Should Moltres carry the Mystic-type? A mystical Pokémon is different from a species with mystical elements and a Mystic-type wouldn't measure mysticfulness. Last but not least, Mysterious is not the same as Mystical.
Seriously? Suicune and Azelf are now underused? Man, tiers sure have changed since a few years ago... :p

I'm not sure what to think about the Beast Trio getting the Mystic-type... To be honest, I think it would overcomplicate things for no good reason. I mean, they are no doubt mystical, but every Legendary is, more or less. They don't seem to specifically have a "Mystic" attribute on themselves more than, say, Cresselia. I don't mean as characters, but as species -- and types classification is done on the species, obviously.
It looks as ethereal as it does mystic to be honest. I'm not completely sold on that idea, and I just think mystic fits it better. And what do you mean subclass?
Perhaps just Ninetails, not Vulpix. Come to think of it, I like the idea. As for the Lake trio, I meant the unlikelihood of peaking them due to the fact that they are pretty overused and they might not want to create problems by changing them. Then again, that's not a real reason -- still, I'd rather see the tiny Legendaries have their typings changed instead.

By the way, I think the reason Manaphy is not Psychic is due to the number of Psychic-type Legendaries in Generation IV. The Mystic-type would obviously fix that problem. I wouldn't put Shaymin on the category -- it's more similar to Keldeo, with its pseudo-evolution.
I really like the idea of a Mystic type. It's more interesting and probably more inclusive than a Light type would be. It's about time they did something new with the type chart anyways.
True, true. Perhaps they can make an ethereal type then? Sounds more mysterious and exciting, and could help envision the mythic type more. Like the Pokemon are not of this world, almost illusions of a higher plane, but still in existance.
Not sure about the Vulpix line, and I doubt the lake trio because of metagame reasons, but the others sound fine. I was thinking if they should retcon the types for all Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Manaphy (yes) and Victiny into Mystic-type. I enjoy the symmetry, and I wouldn't really mind it.

I assume you deliberately let Unown out of the count?
Makes sense. I just don't feel mystic is an appropriate typing, and I think they're gonna one up the type speculation by introducing a type not completely speculated/expected. Not light, or mystic even, but something out there, that still makes sense in its own way.
For what it's worth, the relation of the concept of Nymphs with Divine or Holy is pretty much direct. So, even if it gets renamed into Light-type in the west, this makes a lot of sense. Light is also related, of course, a bit more indirectly. Yes, I think I'm gonna go with that for now.

The Japanese name would probably be Shinsei-type, either way -- which means both divinity and holiness. I guess that helps things a bit with Xerneas and Yveltal. The latter does look Divine, but not really Holy.

I'd be good with Mystic, as a translation or in both Japanese and English. It would also help with Yveltal, which would be awkward to be Light-type (much like Holy).
Very true, something along those lines is very possible. Holy is a common attribute in many Japanese RPGs too. It's not too controversial because of its religious relevance, is it?
