  • And apparently you're right. There (almost) will be a new eeveelutions revealed this week. lke you expected. It's too hard to believe that a new eeveeelutions isn0t going to happen. And the Genesect movie and the Pokemon XY logos are back to back!!!!
    Two things:
In Serebii some posters, namely AgentPierce and Pokemaniac24, known serious TR stans, are posting about that the episodes are going to air because a TPCi worker, Goltik, said that the Plasma episode are going to air in late 2012 and early 2013 when we know:
-Team Rocket are semi-serious and not completely serious. If anything, they will be more funny during Episode N. And in the TR vS TP Looker aren't sided to them like the opening suspects to happen now.
-I don't think that White Team Plasma, Zager, Pierce and specially the Meteonite are going to return.
    - I don't see a two-partner without N, Ghetsis, Colress, Black TP in it now that they're really relevant to the story.

It will be a Plasma episodes, and possibly some of them are in Castelia, but there won't be the old episodes anymore. Also, I think that there and not in the Kanto Fair episode(I'm 50/50 only for the combo Tomioka + Iwane) where other Charizard will appear... like the last three times Charizard appeared.

ALso, regarding Charizard, I don't think that Charizard will appear at the 7th March because Charizard is in Johto* and not in the Kanto.

*And because I don't believe the writers now I think that Liza will transport Charizard from Johto to Isshu in a casual travel with his pokeball. The problem is that exist another possibility but it really happens many people will complain (and I have to agree in that case) that Team Plasma is going to be shafted in the show.
It's not a guarantee that it will learn Fire-type moves (though it probably will), but Flareon should also be improved in XY regardless. If only they could give it Scald... It wouldn't make sense, but it would be very useful for its movepool. :p
At least I'm not the only one who feels like that as well. So far the XY section has been going through the same stuff over and over, and hopefully some news remedies it. The quality is quite low, but I do believe with some news proper discussions can arise once more.
At this point, I've pretty much forgotten about that one. I think GameFreak feels the same way. Masuda probably says something along the lines of "Genesect? So over it.". :p

I wouldn't mind a Dragon-type Eeveelution, I'm not sure why you don't think it's a good idea. First of all, it doesn't have to be too "reptile-y", just because it is a dragon; just have dragon attributes. Ideally, I think Eevee should have evolutions of each and every type -- just given few by few. Though I do hope they don't try anything clever, like a mixed type or something.

By the way, don't you think it's a bit too soon for real news? With the games half a year away, I think most things this month will be of cosmetic value. That doesn't mean boring, pointless or minor, but probably not gameplay-related. I expect the region and its name, the player characters (geez, I hope the male hero does not have a blue attire as in the footage) and of course some new Pokémon. Probably some "questions" too, like the thing with the Trainer - Pokémon bond. For these reasons one or more Eeveelutions would be a good idea. I mean, they wouldn't be groundbreaking, but good enough to keep the momentum going.

Now, for actual features? Maybe just a follow-up to last month, meaning they may explain the bond thing or put more detail into the new battle presentation system and the like.
    ----------
I just hope that Game Freak haven't actually opted to go around the world before they return to Japan (or more to the point expand it, since I don't care for remakes), as that would take several generations. I don't mind the thought that the main versions may never again be set in Japanese regions, as long as the remaining regions are introduced via mid-generation releases with some exclusive Pokémon.
    ----------
The reason I doubt this prospect is that odd generations have always made a point of being almost entirely devoid of any new Pokemon--the entire list goes up to two, in fact. (Sohnano and Ruriri) I suspect instead that odd-numbered generations will simply have entirely new Pokemon families for DLC.

    ----------
It wouldn't be a third version; any game involving a new region would be even more removed from the third version concept than B2W2 were. I don't see how a return to Japan would feel disjointed; the idea would be to commemorate the series' 20th anniversary.
    ----------
Well, one obvious reason it would feel disjointed is that it would essentially feel like an entirely new generation--no connection to the Paris-based region and entirely new starters! Whereas were they to adopt the 'Europe-China-Japan' theme for this generation--again serving as a continuation of Gen V's mythology--there could be new starters while still legitimately being in the same generation.
    ----------
How is it odd? The starters from the previous regions weren't distinctly Japanese. In fact, Infernape and Emboar are both most likely based on characters from the same Chinese tale ("Journey to the West"), while Empoleon is a reference to Napoleon and/or Poseidon. Game Freak have never restricted themselves to a particular culture or ecosystem.
    ----------
The Shin'ou starters were much less based upon specific areas than the Isshu ones. For Emperte, the Napoleon connection is arguably English-only (for obvious reasons) while for Goukazaru, there is still the fact that it in particular is based off of Japanese snow monkeys as well as Son Wukong. Indeed, if we are to look at the starters, it is fairly evident they were chosen based upon the Shin'ou region--turtles congregating around springs and lakes, penguins (geographically incorrect, but thematically fitting), and snow monkeys.

The Isshu starters are a different story. Partly due to NYC not being rich in natural geography like Hokkaido, the three starters were deliberately chosen to specifically represent different areas of the world. The fact that Sugimori and his associates made such a big point of the starters specifically representing Europe, China, and Japan in interviews should not be downplayed. Even in terms of names, the Isshu starters are pretty blatant in regards to their distinct connections to these three landmasses: Chaoboo and Enboar (Enbuoh) are about the most Chinese-sounding names of any Pokemon in existence, while Mijumaru's line have the deliberate 'maru' ending, common among samurai in the times of Japanese feudalism--the line is overtly made to be 'Japanese' even to a Japanese audience.
I've been thinking about the new region(s) endlessly, and something did come to my mind--what if the reason why the region is evidently in France as opposed to Japan is that GF has opted to do a sort of round-the-world 360 back to Japan, all in one generation? Assuming that this could be a contributing factor, could the reason that they chose France 'first' have to do with Tsutarja? As in, perhaps they intend to really show how Isshu's influences, like NYC, can be found the world over, and how some Pokemon were brought to Isshu from another region? This could be a way to still make Gen 6 a sort of 'expansion' to the previous generation, following in the tradition of all past even-numbered generations.

The fact that GF made the Isshu starters represent Europe, China, and Japan seemed very odd to me, but perhaps this is the reason? Should this turn out to be true, we would logically see two more new regions that showcase Isshu's world influences--a China one, for Pokabu, and, finally, a return to ground zero--I hope Chugoku--for Mijumaru. Is this not the logical continuation of what Gen 6 should be, going by past generations? I think not.

One reason why this theory also makes so much sense to me is that I simply cannot imagine Gen 6 going from France to Japan for their third version--it would just seem utterly nonsequitorial and disjointed. While China is seen, as far as I am aware, as some sort of 'epicenter of the world' in accordance with Chinese clerical-traditionalism, as far as I know France was not historically considered to be any sort of 'global epicenter'. Indeed, I even considered for a while that perhaps France was in fact antipodes with Japan, but after testing this on Google Earth, this was revealed to be completely false. Since they chose France instead of China--and since a Chinese region according to this theory would be the 'center' of the generation--this would make sense the most to me.

    What are your thoughts?

    Q. What about NFC

Iwata : there are two trends. one is with figurines or cards. We are currently working with developers on this and we will see various games this year.

The other one is E-money payment. we are also working on this.
    ----------
I wonder if the inevitable Pokélanders Infinity will be under the PokéPark license. From a focus and gameplay perspective, it would make sense, and PokéPark is establishing something -- at least for a kids' series. That said, they haven't exactly pushed it to be such a popular sub-series, and the figures-based game will be pushed a lot. I suppose it will be something that contains 'Pokémon' in the title too.

I think the supposed game could eventually become a very standard subseries. As in, main games standard. It may become the "home console" Pokémon (though, arguably, there's no real reason to keep it on just home consoles). It's just too good a chance for them to not take advantage of. Of course, there's also the curiosity of how exactly the game will play. Presumably, it will be a take on the figures collecting action-based formula. But what of the game's world? From a first thought, it seems unlikely that it will be a main Pokémon World title (or anything that also has humans), but it's also not impossible. After all, the Pokémon license contains a lot of human-focused elements, like Poké Balls and the like.
Oh, great! It's a good time for revealing a new Eeveelution too. Also, with Masuda there, it looks like Smash will get this before CoroCoro. Shokotan will be happy. That's a step down. I hope it gets revealed on the website first. :p
    Speaking of the financial results.

    ----------
Another matter is what will happen with the dedicated handheld. I think that eventually, the universality of the platform will reflect on that as well; many games and apps will be cross-playable between their hardware offerings, without distinction of home and handheld systems. That might take a while, though.
    ----------
Nailed it. I think 3DSi will, much like the DSi, offer a gradient between the current and the incoming situation. It won't be "DS 3", but its ecosystem will be the first solid step to Nintendo's universal platform. It will be interesting to see how series will be affected, and what they will do to convince players to buy both the portable and the home system. Granted, a well-organized ecosystem is a good reason itself, but I'm mostly curious about how exclusivity will work at that point.

Will they lose or win more by making Pokémon playable on both "Nintendo Home" and "Nintendo Portable"? Is there future in "traditional" console Pokémon games if that happens? For example, if you can play the main versions on either system, and they are already fairly big screen-friendly, would a Colosseum-esque still have a point? I'd argue it would, because it's hardly just the graphics that distinct Colosseum / XD from the main games -- but I'm not sure they would feel the same way. If Game Freak can work on one game a year, they might just leave it there...
Now that you mention it, Elm's probably the most interesting researcher. Rowan and Colress' research did seem like a rehash of Elm's concept. It's just too bad Game Freak doesn't just use Elm given how they seem to enjoy shoving Oak everywhere...and we're still not sure exactly what he researches.

I wonder if it has something to do with his distractability.
I also hope that the new spin-off will have some kind of story. If it's a grounded concept, then it better tie with the main games somehow. But I'm also interested in alternative takes of the universe; Conquest is sort of an example, and it should get a sequel one day. Lately, I've also been thinking of a more purely Sci-Fi based Pokémon game -- an "in space" take, if you will. As I like the setting, it intrigues me to think about it -- but I'm also wondering if the main games would ever go there themselves. It sounds a bit too "far off", but this is Pokémon, so, who knows?

Anyway, like I wrote here, nothing (or perhaps everything?) would be surprising, as they can essentially do anything with the series. Guessing what it could be is something that can only be done through guessing the developer. In this case, Ambrella is the most likely candidate unfortunately. I doubt they would make anything too worthwhile. Admittedly, Ranch is a canon game, but that doesn't say much. :p This studio has no real focus on anything. I mean, as they're making generally "lighthearted" games, I'm considering the possibility of them developing a mini-game collection a la WarioWare -- but not really...

For some reason I think Pokémon Snap may finally return soon. I don't know if this will be before or after the debut of Generation VI, but the game is clearly fit for Wii U. We haven't heard of HAL in a while now, which helps, and they should give Kirby a break for 2013 -- he's had three fairly main games (and a collection that included new content) in three years, which is a bit too much. Then again, this could be wishful thinking.
I don't mind the idea of a shared Tauros, Miltank and Bouffalant pre-evolution. After all, that's how evelution works per se. I wonder how they would implement the idea though. I guess wearing afro hair would make it evolve in Bouffalant (which can be of both genders) or something. :p One may suggest they do the same with Alomomola and Luvdisk. A Luvdisk pre-evolution... That would be funny.
If it was Elm, it would at least feed more into N's journey around the world thing. I wonder how long Game Freak's actually been thinking about a mechanic like this? If I recall, Sugimori said he wanted fusions long before B/W-Kyurem.
Maybe he doesn't believe in N's powers.

It would be great if that's what Game Freak was planning given that XY should have been in production along with BW2, but I somehow feel like they won't actually do it.
Before this announcement, I was actually speculating what the Pokemon World was like before anyone made Pokeballs out of Apricorns, and thought it may have been similar to conquest--that is, people formed bonds with certain Pokemon, but only certain people could make these bonds. After all, why make Pokeballs when they supposedly hinder a Pokemon's true ability? I think the reason for that is because Pokeballs allowed people to bridge that initial link that needed to be made between human and Pokemon for them to start working with each other.

Anyway, I was hoping with the introduction of this bond feature that XY would take place in a more distant future compared to BW, and the rediscovery of making these bonds was due to a traveling "legendary trainer" (N) and a scientist who wished to unleash the full potential of Pokemon (Colress). It would give much better closure for both the characters.

    Interestingly, in Corless' rematch:

"Even the same Pokémon can exhibit different strengths depending on the Trainer! It's so interesting! Very, very interesting!

A lot of drama. :p While I'd come across your more "critical" self, it's beyond me why people were offended by an organized stating of facts, which is essentially what you did.

It's somewhat funny how different behaviors can be noticed between the different communities. Bulbagarden has its virtues, but it's sometimes tied way too much into politics. When compared to other Pokémon forums, it's probably the most "well organized" (albeit not the most active), but it takes everything, even things completely out of the realms of Pokémon, way to seriously -- it's too "tight". Maxim was banned because he supposedly threatened to "set fire on Nintendo of America's headquarters" (because they retconned Tin Tower's name into Bell Tower :p). Obviously, that's not the actual reason they banned him, but it's still hilarious.

I also have received 3 infraction points for "thread necromancy" in this thread. It's ironic, because I provided a useful link too. :p
Of course it didn't. Creatures messed up big time without Matsumiya. :p

Looking back, I was a bit too over-the-top back in the day. Or just plain immature at times. I especially regret the latter post; back when I made it, I was still angry about PBR, which biased me to let out on Colosseum and XD. Not that they are perfect by any measure, but I was way too harsh on what was a decent effort. :p
I wasn't talking about just locations, but elements inspired from real-world generally. But, well, I guess in this case we are talking about just locations, which makes my point invalid. :p From the top of my head, I can only think of Sootopolis as being a location based on an out of base-region real world location. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few more, but I suppose those are exceptions, in which case you're right that Pyrenees should indicate something.

If they decide to put some special kind of DLC with an extra location, I wonder if they would choose Switzerland. It's a fairly interesting country with so many themes and things to see, in spite of its small size. As it known for being a nodal point for Italian, French and German culture, they'd also be given a chance to pick a little on Italy and Germany as well, which we won't see for a while. It would be a good opportunity.

As a side note, I looked on this article. I find it funny that it may have indeed been Creatures' intention for Almia to be based on the unused foot of Hokkaido -- it just looks way too similar. When I first suggested that on the corresponding BMGf thread, I was simply desperate to prove a point about the Ranger series taking place in the main Pokémon world. Ironically, I think it was you with whom I was arguing with about that. :p
