  • I don't know, if it wasn't for a mandated rule to not argue the validity of remakes placed in that thread, I'd point out how ridiculous they're being. But whatever, just let people dwell on wanting to play old games (while ironically hating the idea of virtual console releases).

I actually like how well thought out the game mechanics was for these Warlords. The only thing is, I don't think these skills would quite work in the main series when you only play as one character.
I wouldn't worry so much about Isshu Pokemon getting too much treatment evolution-wise, as I find that the majority of them seem rather like they were intentionally given complete evolution lines from the start, with a mere handful of exceptions. I also would not worry about them covering all of the continents before returning to Japan--that would mean at least a decade or so more before returning to Poke-Japan, which obviously will not happen.

I don't need Tohoku immediately, but I am extremely disappointed that Chugoku isn't receiving treatment this generation. With the X and Y names, I feel that the legends of Lugia and Houou would fit perfectly somewhere in the plot, with Xerneas and Yveltal perhaps being a sort of link between the legends of Houen and Jouto; in addition, the very DNA-oriented theme seems to call for the series to actually 'go back to its roots' and expand upon them, as opposed to creating an entirely new region.

One thing concerning DLC, though. I'm certainly not the first one to have brought up this possibility, but should we really rule out a sort of gradual release of new Pokemon this time around, wherein a few dozen new evolutions and species are revealed every year? Considering that BW2 placed legendary Pokemon in the middle of a new dex for no real reason--the Musketeers are still found late enough to logically be placed at the end, and the Kami Trio should've been placed at the very end considering they're not even accessible--perhaps we should not rule this out? Indeed, considering that even-numbered generations have traditionally intentionally made little use of the majority of their new Pokemon so as to give them that 'secret' vibe (in DP, they weren't even in the dex at all) this may in fact be the most logical thing to expect. In this case, would it really be logical to rule out that in two years' time or so, a new 'Gen 6.5' will be released, with say 45 new evolutions, taking place in Chugoku?
The thing that creates a dilemma to me is that I'm under the impression that Team Plasma forked Primisect's DNA into Genesect. :p But I guess in the end, you might be right, considering this is more of an assumption than anything else.

It could easily be introduced as a form, provided that it shares the same DNA with Primisect with nothing more than added parts. Granted, I still think it would be different from all other Legendary Pokémon with forms, but that's not a problem. There are quite a few "kinds" of forms anyway. Shaymin and Keldeo are as if evolving, Kyurem fuses with other species, the Kami Prankster Trio gets "unstreamlined", and its just Deoxys, Giratina and Meloetta that literally get an "alternate" form per se.
Huh... It's super weird to see N in the anime for some reason. And also, is it just me or is there a thing that actually resembles scene direction in the Pokémon anime now? :p

Anyway, I think you're reading way too much into it. I'd be surprised if they actually put so much thought on this -- it would make more sense if they just want to make the stage look symmetrical or something. Isn't it fishy enough that they'd put Extremespeed Genesect along with the others anyway? Let alone a supposedly ressurected Primisect. I'm not in favour of the idea of Primisect being a Genesect forme. It's possible that Team Plasma spliced its DNA in addition to "upgrading" it, but even if they didn't, adding parts to Pokémon (organic or not) and resulting to an evolution is hardly a new concept.

The only question is; can Genesect's parts be removed? If it "devolved" that way, it could easily be paralleled to Slowbro, but I suppose that it's not the same, considering it has robotic parts rather than an additional organism co-existing with it. I suppose that would be settled for sure if we knew exactly what Plasma did with it. But considering that we don't, this simply creates more of a dilemma on what is a form and what is an evolution.
Wow, cute Legendary Primisect? Man, that's so bizzare to consider. Genesect looks ridiculous if anything, but I can't imagine it ever being cute. Not to mention the "cute Legendaries" are by nature good-willed, in contrast to the griefless killer Primisect supposedly was.

I gotta say though -- it won't be surprising to see Primisect in Gen VI. I'm not that eager to see a Genesect story -- at least in comparison to a Mewtwo (or even a Deoxys) one, but it is possible. Do I want that though? I'm not sure if a Legendary put there "just for the laughs" would oblige to the hopeful low-new-Pokémon number policy. It certainly wouldn't. One trio, two mascot Pokémon; in a perfect world, we'd have these out of the box -- to be followed by a near-release cute Legendary DLC. Now, do we need another Pokémon to complete another mascot "trinity"? I'd argue we don't -- but it's probably inevitable; and I wish I could say it would also come as DLC, but I know it won't. So, 6 "standard", plus 1 special Legendaries would be game. "Hidden" ones could span all through the Generation, but I still hope the total number will not surpass 10.

It's not that hard to think of Legendary Pokémon events to put on XY. Deoxys came from space and Mewtwo could easily be imagined as wandering through all kind of places; and both are tied to DNA concepts. From that sense, it seems crazy to not have them in the games. They've done the new 'n' fresh thing way too many times for their own good, time to try something [sic] new.
People have also referred to them as observatories, which are very often in deserts too.

As for Yveltal and Xerneas; yes, perhaps they might be of "Cosmic-type" indeed. Hopefully blended with another type. Especially Xerneas does give a certain vibe. I wouldn't like it if they called it 'Alien-type' though. It directly implies the entire universe bar earth (rather than the ability to travel in it) is put in one type.

Also, five Genesect in the movie. Clearly, it departs from the game (which is one thing I find good, if you ask me; especially considering the confirmed direct anime continuity), but I still wonder how they will present them and still stay with the whole "ancient bug" concept. It barely looks like an insect, let alone ancient.
We also need to know what the space foregrounded text says... Did you see that suggestion for a "Cosmic-type"? Great suggestion, in my opinion. Bit of a generalization (like, would all space Pokémon necessarily be "Cosmic-type"? if so, why just them?), but if they worked up the details, it could turn out great. For example, it could be that Pokémon that travel in space (or have the ability to) have that specific type. It's not a bad specialization, if you consider Poison-type. The only question is just how many "regular" Pokémon could have yield that type.
I was just about to say that. And they should use that as far as versions are concerned too; they should take what they did in GSC/HGSS further. Just as Lugia and Ho-Oh were in different locations and hence the player's experience between the two versions wasn't as symmetrical as (ironically) in the next games -- RS, DP, BW -- X and Y plots should differ as far as the legendaries are concerned. Different plots, different locations, without impulsive direct counterparts and streamlining. Of course, the games should be the same in their base -- not need to change too many things as if to make players buy both versions. But things related to the Legendaries should occur during the whole game (not just the climax) and be quite different.

By the way, top right in the Xerneas scan, it say something in the lines of "Japan - NO, World - NO, Earth - NO". There's also a space hint in one of the fonts' foreground.
I suggested Grass because of the forest setting (versus the sky setting). But I guess it's not to be taken for granted.

Good thing is that there is reason to not give the mascot Pokémon a new type. It could potentially make a majority of players choose one version instead of the other. By the way, which one do you like better? It's a tough call, but for now I'm leaning towards Yveltal. I'm waiting to see the types to decide completely. If Yveltal is part Dragon instead if Flying, it will be a bummer...

Anyway, if there is new type, I think it would be revealed in a key moment of the coverage. That can be either in the beginning or right in the middle. Probably not at the end or in a time when there is already enough momentum from other details.
Do you think Xerneas could be of a new type? It seems to be part Grass (and likewise, Yveltal is probably part Flying), but you can tell it has the whole "luminosity" thing about it. I'm willing to bet that Xerneas is Light/Grass and Yveltal is Dark/Flying.
    By the way, "real play".

    ----------
People around the world will be able to simultaneously experience 'Real Play'. The game uses an innovative communication system that makes it feel as if you are playing with other players around the world.

It looks like the dreams of an "online Underground" are coming true. Fingers crossed on a very good implementation.
Completely agreed. Some Pokémon legends do have one (or more than one) real-life legends that they are inspired from, but it's usually superficial and no more than basic; basically, they are "inspired", not based on. That holds true for locations and other elements too. PokéJapan is hardly just Japan, and even Unova has more than enough east Asian (the Yin Yang, the starter's Chinese warriors themes) and medieval European themes. Heck, Sootopolis draws inspiration from Santorini. :p

It's usually a mixture of several real themes as well as original content. Even though the result isn't always perfect, I like the potential of this creative freedom, personally.

Boy, would a Nazi based villainous group be controversial. I'm not very much in common with French history during WWII, so, I'm not sure about the potential of that. Obviously though, it would be a clear departure from the arguably neutral (on paper) Team Plasma to a more obviously evil organization. What I'm hoping for personally is that the game's main villain won't be organized in a traditional "cult" group (arguably, Team Rocket was more of a crime syndicate -- but the rest Teams were more like small group), but rather as something more original for the series, like a corrupt government or an evil corporation.
Conquest basically removes the standard levels in favour of building a link with the Pokemon. All the Pokemon have the three base stats on Attack, Defense, and Speed, while Warriors have three stats on Power, Wisdom, and Charisma. The Warlord's power influences the Pokemon's attack, Wisdom affects defense, and Charisma affects Speed. In this way, warriors with better stats can produce stronger Pokemon than a warrior with worse stats but equal link levels even when all Pokemon in this game are technically equal (no IV's). I'm hoping that if trainer customizations exist, the way you customize your trainer affects how each stat is increased/decreased OR you can identify with a specific trainer class that differentially influence the type of Pokemon you use.

Wanting to "remove" weak Pokemon would certainly be interesting, especially when we're always given the message that a Pokemon's strength doesn't matter but the bond with trainers. I'd like to think that Game Freak would make it so that statistically disadvantaged Pokemon can potentially form stronger bonds than top-tier ones that may offset their weak stats.

As a side note, I was honestly surprised to see the remake discussion being brought over from the video game forums into the XY forums....and that people are still talking about it. Yeah, sure, we barely have anything from XY to talk about, but there's even less for RSE.
What do you think about the new region in regards to its location? I am feeling more than a bit let down and confused. It has been a tradition from the beginning that odd-numbered generations introduce completely new regions and Pokemon families, while even-numbered generations expand upon previous regions and Pokemon families. (Shin'ou may have been located away from the other regions, but that was merely because positing it next to Kanto, Jouto, or Houen would make HGSS completely redundant.) We know for sure, more or less, that this region will expand upon previously-introduced families--Eievui, for instance--so do we really know that the region will not be located in Chugoku, but merely derive aesthetic influence from Paris? Sort of like how Orre was nominally based upon Arizona but clearly derives most of its influence from western Chugoku, or how Isshu clearly derives partial influence from Shanghai despite it being based on NYC.

Do you believe this is a possibility?
Maybe, I'm not too sure. It sure could replace a potential third version at least. As long as there's no pay to unlock certain pokémon, I can be more or less satisfied. I'm generally very skeptical to DLC, mostly because a lot of game series have spun it a very wrong way (i.e. paying for cosmetic items, etc.).
How much do you put into Iwata saying that team will continue development of these titles, aka how much DLC do you think they're going for?
Oh. That's definitely going to be interesting this time around then considering we'll be getting it at the same time and will see lots of the new Pokemon in the game ourselves before it's leaked from the Japanese games. I'm also curious about how GF/Nintendo/TPC are handling the translation for the games and what process this time is allowing them to do it much faster. I assume they are going along with it right as it is developed rather than beginning once it's in the very late stages of completion. This should be the case for all games going forward which is very exciting.

Do you have a 3DS, if you don't, do you plan on getting one for Gen VI? I've had one for a while but it has been collecting dust as there really hasn't been many great games for it yet which is disappointing, so I'm really excited for this. Like I've said before, I just hope the overworld graphics will be worked on and I think they will judging by the "Game footage is not final" text that appears during the trailer, indicating that they obviously plan to enhance it more. The 3DS is much more capable, and they do have 9 months left so I expect it to look better by release time.
