  • Is it possible the N arc only lasts until August in Japan - then they don't air anymore episodes until the Gen VI anime, which lets the English dub have those three months to catch up? Sounds like an extremely far stretch, I just think it's odd having the B/W anime possibly stretch into January 2014 until the Gen VI anime begins.

I don't even really care about the anime anyway, but I was just thinking about it. I hope we get more game news with Coro Coro such as the name of the legendaries and their types. Do you know at what stage they usually reveal the evolution's of the starter Pokemon?
I'm really curious as to what will happen with the anime now that the games are getting a worldwide release. Do you think the English dub will try to catch up, somehow? Or do you think they just won't even care and will keep it flowing at the pace its at?

It would be odd for B/W to still be airing a few months after the release of Gen VI.
Well, we got a lot more than we anticipated. But I honestly don't know why I thought discussion on the forums would be any more interesting.
I wonder if the two remarks (about bonds and about Pokémon getting stronger) are related to each other... A memory stat would indeed be just perfect. It doesn't have to benefit only UU Pokémon; but rather, since they have the chance, they can rebalance the battle system by tweaking Base Stats and Move Pools. Of course, that could happen even without a Memory stat. In any case, I hope there will be some meaningful changes in the system. It's hard to make it better per se; it's pretty saturated as it is. But if they can keep it really good, while also fresh, people would appreciate it.

What surprises me (in a good way) is that XY "[will] boost [the] franchise to over 700 Pokémon". Now that's a positive development. He didn't say "over 750" or "over 740" -- he said "over 700". That must mean there are less than 100 new Pokémon.
I don't think you should think much of the gyms, I doubt they wanted to reveal too much of the game yet especially the story so they were just showing the core concept of what every Pokemon game has and will expand on the rest later. It was their first reveal of the their game on a new platform so they clearly wanted to focus on that and the aesthetics rather than any story etc.

I'm actually excited they went to a new place. It could still hold connections to previous regions. Part of me feels it may hold a connection to Unova judging by the huge Golurk statue, but that could mean nothing. I absolutely love the new legendaries and the fact they aren't dragon. I would absolutely love if Mew/Mewtwo are somehow involved, especially Mew as it has never gotten its 'day' in the games which has annoyed me. I hate event only Pokemon, I wish they would try to start bringing them into the main game without the need to get an event for it.

I wasn't too fond of the new starters except the fire one, but after reflection I like them a lot now. I just pray they stray away from the typical Fire/Fighting evolution etc. I actually think Fennekin is going to be Fire/Psychic, in the trailer you clearly see it using some purple ray move which looks like a psychic move to me.

One thing I'm happy about is that we will now be getting English information the same time as Japan. Granted, we will probably get it from Coro Coro earlier since it always leaks - but the English site will likely update with the information on the 15th like the Japanese site does anyway. There's always the chance we will start getting scoops from English magazines too, though.

What do you expect in the upcoming Coro Coro? Obviously 'Pokemon X and Y! 3DS!' etc, with a few screens (could be the ones that the official site posted already). I hope they will expand on the starters and mascots though. Such as the legendaries names, types etc but we might have to wait until February for that.
Optimistic, no... More like wishfully thinking. :p

If you think about it though, Fire Emblem: Awakening got a bunch of retro-inspired DLC (with returning old characters -- not sure about the locations and maps), and NSMB2 got a DLC pack with SMB levels. There will definitely be some kind of retrospect-based Pokémon DLC; the question is how well made it will be. It is also Nintendo's DLC policy that DLC is made after the completion of the main game. That means that they probably try to make them more unconnected and independent from the player's experience throughout the game -- I'm not sure if Game Freak will espouse this philosophy, but if they do, it seems logical that at least some of the content should be familiar to the players, but unrelated to the main game.

Unown is indeed likely to appear. It would be super funny if there was an Unown-based DLC pack taking place in the Sinjoh Ruins. Such a tease. :p
Aside from the clothes, I guess they bare some resemblance, but I think that's most likely a coincidence. The boy definitely has a more "trendy" attitude too... :p

I hope there will be some playing around with how Gyms work. Be it their number, added elements to their gameplay mechanics, the reason the hero challenges them... In any case, their existence doesn't forbid other, alternate goals or a good story. They could be relatively casual, just as they arguably were in GSC.

I too wonder why Iwata mentioned just the Johto Legendaries, but I really doubt that means anything to be honest. I really wonder where the game takes place, locally. After creating Unova out of just New York City, there's no guarantee this region is far PokéJapan or Unova. It obviously is located in another country, since Routes are once again reset, but perhaps it's not as far from one of the two known countries as the two are between them. Most likely, the game's new main Legendaries are independent / new, but maybe there is some place for interesting side-stories for older ones; not to mention DLC are due, and they could feature older territories for revisiting old Legendaries. (I certainly don't wish to see unjustified / untidy appearances).
Here are my impressions. I don't really mind France, as long as the game's plot is not too restricted by rationalities. I want this to be a very good look at the "big picture" of the Pokémon world, just as it would be in a Japan-based region.

How do you feel about 'Pokémon X'?
Pokemon X and Pokemon Y eh? What a stunning turn of events. I don't even know if they will finally introduce the Light-type in these installments.
    I'm stoaked. Your opinion?

The only thing that worries me is that the graphics looked a little too choppy, probably due to the low frame rate so hopefully they can fix that up before release. It's going to be odd playing a Pokemon game in full 3D like that, but I'll get used to it. I'm glad it's taking a step forward, though.

Plus, a WORLDWIDE release has me so excited even though it is still pretty far away.
Well, many ex fans and people not interested in the franchise would be excited about a real 3D-fication, granted that it is very good. But he's inflating international hype indeed. Hope what we'll see is worth that.

By the way, I think that a worldwide (virtually) same-day launch is totally possible by the way they're promoting this. So good. It's high time we had that. No more gradient on the fanbase's awareness and spoilers avoiding!
Hopefully what they reveal will not disappoint. Definitely expecting images/footage considering it's 10 minutes, which is a considerable amount of time for them to just talk about whatever is revealed - so hopefully they have something planned to show us.
Will you be able to see the announcement as it happens? It's at 8pm JST and I think you said 7pm JST was the latest you would be able to view it.
I'm also quite busy these days... It takes some serious skills to be able to change focus temporarily and then go back to studying. But it's also especially nice when you're able to do that. :p

Anyways. There's a certain belief that this is going to be "more" than just a Generation announcement. I think this is an exaggeration, and it's this modern way of announcing things that's exciting people (obviously, it's made to excite), but it's still nice to see the enthusiasm. On a second thought though, this could turn out to be Pokémon's "turn to 3D". With other franchises, that was a breakthrough for the series indeed. Thinking of Ocarina of Time, Mario 64 and Final Fantasy VII makes that apparent... That said, it's going to take much more than a change in perspective (graphically) for the game to be a breakthrough; there needs to be a change in perspective figuratively as well. :p

By the way, I don't know about you, but seeing Game Freak come close to my expectations would surprise me a lot. :p
Now this is a classy way to make an announcement. Kudos.
In 10 minutes, I'll be surprised if there is no trailer.
I'm not getting my hopes up for anything surprising really. I mean, it would be nice if we get a region or Pokemon (other than the mascot), or a story, but I'll bet we don't even get the version names.
I'm worried and annoyed that the countdown still isn't up. It's there, so I don't know why it isnt up yet. I'm worried that the countdown is there to be put up with the announcement such as a countdown to the first pictures or trailer of the game, or a countdown to the reveal of the first Gen VI Pokemon or something that will be shown after the game announcement.

If the countdown isn't up within 24 hours then I will be annoyed, do they expect us to just sit there all day refreshing the page waiting for the announcement? Give us a time.
