  • Nope. Just one Shadow now.

...Well. I should also add that Newmans were originally created for research purposes.
Well... I kinda don't want to ruin the surprise, but I also want to make sure it's OK with you.

Leonel managed to find the two Shadows' bodies, and turned them over to the cloning labs, who noted their high Technic potential. Thus, the cloning labs made a copy of his original DNA and created a new Shadow, who is a Newman, but also has no memories, due to never going to a memory bank.
And there do exist regular people who were turned into one of the other races.
So there are your basic species, from human to hedgehog, but there are different kinds of species.
-Newmans are a race that was originally genetically engineered to enhance mental abilities, and as a result, they're far more adept at using Technics (magic), but their physical defense is less developed. They generally have slightly longer ears.
-CASTs are anything from cyborgs to full-on robots. They are generally physically stronger than other races, and they cannot use Technics, but they can use traps.
-Deumans are naturally mutated from regular species, but their origin is somewhat unclear. They are able to manipulate the energy in their bodies to make their attacks stronger, but are just as physically defenseless as Newmans. Common features include light hair/fur, pale skin, a horn in their forehead (two small horns for females), and a red eye.
...So, since the future segment is inspired by Phantasy Star Online, there are a few new races introduced in the future.
Yes, whatever its name was. I want to say Hooktail, but I think that's the first major boss of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
    ...Well.

And this boss is a variation of the giant Koopa Troopa boss from Yoshi's Island.
