Rowlet and Torracat aren't listed, so there's no way this could be a 3vs3 battle. I don't think Ash has had something else than a 1vs1 outside Kahuna and Totem battles this series.

But the "talk" could be worth it, as it's a topic that was never explored in depth in the games.
