I watched the NGE movies, which explained the series and I've never watched or heard of Ugly Beautiful World.

Schizo? They all have major character development throughout the series, which is lost in a lot of anime. Takato has his one "Going insane" moment and from that he reaches a finality in his character development.

Of course there are absolutes. Relativism doesn't work.
