You can evolve your Pokemon and use it in its evolved form outside that battle. However it remains in the early stage for any active battles.

Actually you can evolve it fine - the run is locked in time as of when it started . So your Lotad can become a Ludicolo outside of the national park but until the end of the mini run it will be a Lotad in the Park run.

I'm fairly sure we can find you if you just give us your username, assuming you aren't coming from any website besides AIM (and I guess AOL too because they're related). Either of those listed options would likely work, but if they don't, I'll be sure to let you know!
