    They could have done this earlier, but anytime he did lose, they didn't show him learning from it. All that development happened off screen.

    Its not a bad idea. They haven't really used the anime to tease the next generation since the end of BW where Alexa teased Kalos and a couple Pokemon like Helioptile, Gogoat, and Noivern.

    Definitely hyped for this battle! I'm disappointed its not a double battle, but this should hopefully be a good battle if they can go without the annoying trend of Ash's Pokemon tanking ridiculous amounts of damage while dealing little in return.

    The problem is Goodra's lack of screentime can be blamed on a release that felt unnecessary. Plus, after being brought back cause Ash needed 6 Pokemon, Goodra's performance was pretty lackluster. It got one tie and a loss. Goodra was basically unstoppable before that point though.

    Definitely the most ideal scenario if Ash wins here, and the one that will get the least amount of complaints possibly. But there still is the possibility he can lose. I think it would make the training with Greninja a waste though.

    At the same time also, while I wouldn't mind seeing Ash lose to Raihan, Ash has been the subject of ridicule for years because of his constant league losses up until Alola. I constantly hear people talk about how horrible of a trainer he is, so it is nice to actually see him winning the majority...

    I wouldn't mind Ash losing here honestly, IF it leads to him training with Paul. If he's gonna lose, just please have a training arc with Paul and show Ash bounce back. I'll never forget how poorly they handled his last major loss.
