Idk this kind of seems to me like a stereotype of Americans that other countries hold because of Arnold Schwarzenegger. In reality, Trump’s status as a reality TV “star” (if you’d even call it that) probably did not have much of an impact on his political standing as much as his aggressive...
What the government should do is focus on regulating jobs so that they have pay a living wage instead of expecting people to work just because capitalism told them to.
I don’t necessarily disagree, but from my experience the people who are complaining about “cancel culture” (not you, but people...
TW // violence, racial violence, drug use
(As an aside, I would really encourage us to use trigger warnings for those who are sensitive to these topics)
I can’t help but compare this incident with the multitude of white shooters and attackers who were arrested alive. A police officer should be...
It certainly isn’t only true for economic policy, that’s just where it’s most evident. It’s actually pretty scattered, but the point still stands: the US’s definition of leftist politics and “socialism” is not the same as that of many other developed countries.
I do want to point out that the U.S. “left” is actually still rather centrist (and even “right”) in other parts of the world. As a whole, our political philosophies are unfortunately skewed more conservatively than we realize. This makes it easy for people to demonize the likes of Bernie Sanders...
He stated he would shift his focus to a peaceful transfer of power. Fat lot of good it means for him to say that now, though. He still needs to be removed from office.
I agree that I don’t think it’s likely that Trump will receive the nomination in 2024, but at this point the possibility exists and I think it’s best if it were eliminated. To say nothing of the fact that he needs to answer for his actions either way.
They impeached Trump last year and then Dems won the Presidency and flipped the senate. Most media are either neutral or outright supportive of invoking the 25th amendment or impeachment. The exceptions are of course Fox and other right-wing propaganda outlets.
Respectfully, you said exactly this on an earlier page then completely ignored the justification for why it could still be the right thing to do.
It’s also more than possible that he could. And if this election and its aftermath are what him running looks like, then I would do anything I can to...
Sorry to be annoying about this, but if the Senate is adjourned until the 19th, does that mean that the two new Dem senators can’t be sworn in until then either?
Well then I’m really looking forward to the 20th. Biden will be inaugurated, the senate will be officially flipped and we can get to work pulling the nation out of the gutter. Although I’m sure it won’t be that simple with as many shenanigans as the opposition has been pulling...
Well, no—impeachment alone does not prevent a President from running for a second term. Trump was already impeached by the House. But if removal from office prevents him from running again, then that is a very good reason to impeach and then move forward with his removal even with only 2 weeks...
It’s going to fluctuate. There’s still ~%14 of the votes left to be counted and Arizona is traditionally a very red state. We don’t know when they’ll be reporting mail-ins and when they’ll be reporting in-person polling locations. I do think Trump has a not-terrible chance at taking Arizona, but...
Or, you know, just make it a national holiday so people get off work anyway. Having it on a Saturday would increase numbers, sure, but many people still work on Saturdays.
What makes you say this? I am all for being cautious and not getting hopes up, but most models seem to suggest that Biden...
I think it’s too soon to tell for Pennsylvania. Trump is indeed leading, but there are millions of votes left to be counted most of them being mailed in. Statistics show that the majority of mail-in votes are in fact Democratic, which could easily put Biden ahead.
