The English dub is being released too slowly to be an effective promotional tool in 2020

We're fully aware that TPCI doesn't like subs. That's exactly the problem.

The English dub is being released too slowly to be an effective promotional tool in 2020

A simulcast dub is almost certainly not going to happen (I said as much at the top of this thread) but it's not completely out of the question. A simulcast sub is the much cheaper, easier, feasible option.

The English dub is being released too slowly to be an effective promotional tool in 2020

Yes, I agree that people will watch whatever's readily available to them first, regardless of what language it's in. ...which is exactly the role a weekly simuldub / simulsub would fill.

The English dub is being released too slowly to be an effective promotional tool in 2020

The whole "there's no market for the Japanese version" is a horribly outdated talking point that needs to just go ahead and die already. The reason we originally didn't get the Japanese version of Pocket Monsters back in 1998 is because 4Kids wanted their version to be the only one on the...

The English dub is being released too slowly to be an effective promotional tool in 2020

While the English dub possibly being delayed due to COVID-19 is of course understandable, and the health and safety of its staff and loved ones of course takes priority over a TV show, this whole crisis is also highlighting just how much TPCI putting all its eggs in one basket isn't the best of...

The English dub is being released too slowly to be an effective promotional tool in 2020

The U.S. also has a population more than double that of Japan's.

The English dub is being released too slowly to be an effective promotional tool in 2020

It literally can't be because of the huge (by 2020 standards) gap between game events and the release of an English version of the show. That's the entire problem. It tried to in the very beginning but 4Kids had to keep editing the cards out due to the Children's Television Act of 1990. And so...

The English dub is being released too slowly to be an effective promotional tool in 2020

If there was a legal way to do that then the problems presented in this thread would have already been solved.

The English dub is being released too slowly to be an effective promotional tool in 2020

The dub starting production later than it did half a decade ago isn't a good thing though...? OK. The gap between the Japanese version and an official English release is still too large though. I don't care whose "fault" it is. If people want to put all the blame on Japan the fine, go wild...

The English dub is being released too slowly to be an effective promotional tool in 2020

Just to be clear: a simulsub / simuldub wouldn't replace the TPCI dub currently on TV. It would merely be a (much-needed) supplement to help make the animated series a more effective marketing tool in the West. But then you have things like the voice actor for Bonnie (I think) tweeting out a...

The English dub is being released too slowly to be an effective promotional tool in 2020

The video games have had simultaneous worldwide releases since Generation 6. Pokémon GO's releases are (now) all the same worldwide as well. The Pokémon Company / Game Freak / etc. figured out that having everyone get the same things at the same time is key to being able to effectivly market the...
