I can understand the positive implications as there is a lot we wouldn't know without the hacks, but I'd be willing to give that up for a more pure game. Unfortunately, it seems others do not share this view.

We know for sure the reasoning behind the alleys at least. The looker subplot uses them for battles.

It does have recovery via leech-seed, which is unusable under the vest. I'm a proponent of the build I call the shield mixed assault, with STAB + powerful coverage move (or another STAB) + Leech Seed + Spiky Shield

It's fine that leveling is easier, they just don't adjust the difficulty to compensate. The only challenging trainers of note were Viola (infestation was a bit of a pain) Lysandre, Wulfric (via RNG manipulation, which I'm fine with as a mechanic), Siebold, and Diantha.

Anything decently past the first gym or so I'd say is fair game. Honedge is decent and goomy is mid-game so they're relatively safe and fair trades that are somewhat easy to find.
