I honestly keep forgetting Brock had a Vulpix as well. It is cool that when giving a current companion the same Pokemon as a prior one, they are choosing one that will look different and be a different type. Alolan forms make it a lot easier to justify using the same one again.

I like this idea though it might be a sad way to end Kalos but a great way to kick off Aloa. Ash being devastated or at least kinda down on himself from losing. Maybe he will do the opposite and be exited from the prospect that he has so much more to learn.
