Well, sometimes people don't have any perfect options. If someone dislikes Gou but wants to see what happens with Ash in the PWC they don't have an option to not watch Gou if they want to see the PWC, because Gou is in every episode.

I think Iris being a traveling companion sort of negates the "wow" factor of Ash battling a Champion for me.
