Those links are for the visitors of the site who do read Japanese and want to learn more. The vast majority of the site's visitors probably don't speak Japanese to start with, sure, but there are some who do.
I think it would probably be better to move discussion of these 4Kids related videos over to their own thread. They don't really have anything to do with the website (I've never even brought them up, for example) and having them all in their own dedicated thread will make them a lot easier to...
The plan is to remove it when the Blu-ray comes out next month. I have some more interview translations and other content I want to add so I think it's worth keeping it at the top of the site at least until then.
I'm sorry these comments on my site trigger you but I can assure you I'm not...
And I feel exactly the same way about the 4Kids music Neither 4Kids' music nor TPCi's music mixes well with the Japanese original.
But I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
4Kids' run on the show was a bit of a roller coaster as far as music replacement goes. They were really terrible at first, then got better (but never great) around Season 2/3, and then started going downhill again by the time we really got to Johto. By Season 8 (their last year on the show)...
While replacing silence does very much count, I was actually talking about swapping out one piece of music for another. Season 1, Episode 1 only kept two pieces of music. Episode 2 kept five. Episode 3 kept six. Etc. etc. The actual numbers vary from episode to episode but there are a...
So just like every other season of the show. The big difference here is that the "terrible" performances are mainly limited to two characters in Horizons (Fuecoco and Nidothing) while previous series has a lot more.
???
Neither 4Kids nor TPCi have any control over what battles the show...
Having this information all in one place was indeed one of the goals, yes. But I have to push back on the idea that the write-up was mostly just a rehash of information everybody already knew. The TV schedule scans are all new, for example, and being able to actually see those schedules from...
Something I'm very happy about is how by the early 2000s most anime distributers in the U.S. realized that, at the end of the day, all that heavy-handed localization these companies had convinced themselves were absolutely necessary to make a show a hit in the U.S. weren't actually required...
You had no idea because that's not what happened. Mr. Kubo says, specifically, that the "need for Pokémon to air in the U.S. in order to increase the chances of the show being allowed to return to TV in Japan started to weaken." An American release may have helped things along, but I think...
Are there anime dubs worse out there than the 4Kids Pokémon dub? Of course there are, yes. Is the 4Kids Pokémon dub still really, really bad? Also yes.
I've explained why I focus so much more on the 4Kids stuff than I do the TPCi stuff multiples times before, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to reiterate myself a bit.
The main reason, really, is because more fans have access to the Japanese versions of the episodes TPCi's doing now than the ones...

Mr. Unshou's Dr. Ookido voice is more or less his actor's natural speaking voice. He's from Fukui prefecture, a region of the country I'm not super familiar with, so it's entirely possible the way he speaks is just a reflection of that.
As for the 100th episode thing, "It's the Southern...
The reason I removed that list of episodes from my Episode 38 comparison is because I noticed there were a few inaccuracies in there but didn't have time to readjust everything at the time. A more accurate list (with proper sourcing this time around!) will be posted in April.
