Probably cause some pokemon are more rare to find or can only be found in raid battles. Plus there is the factor of hunting hidden abilities which fighting a pre evo makes things easier

You also have to take note that G-max butterfree's sprite is also different from it's normal one

I mean the the site does say you have to catch them in raid battles, so it's kinda more than implied you have to catch the g-max themselves in the battle.

But isn't the main concern that you can't catch a G-Max in it's base stage?

But not everyone sees it as a contradiction, cause as I mentioned at first, raising a pokemon doesn't mean raising it from the ground up. That's just how folks like you like to do it, when guys like me don't care what stage they're in as long as I take care of em.

Hmmm, this is a personal guess, but dark red might mean pre evolved pokemon, lighter red means fully evolved, and gold for Gigantamax

You don't have to have to raise every pokemon from their base stage to grow a bond with them. Just having them around is enough to start one. Travel all over with em, fight with em, that's just as good as a humble beginning.
