Mexico is another possibility IMHO. A lot of Mesoamerican gods could be some really awesome inspiration for some super cool legendary Pokemon.

Not entirely sure if I've said this before on this thread, but I wouldn't mind seeing a region based on Egypt or some other part of Africa, with the mascot legendaries based on the Egyptian gods Horus and Set. Flying/Fighting and Dark/Ground I guess? Representing order & chaos respectively.

I really want a region based on South Africa. So much diversity, and I'm not just talking about the the potential Pokemon, but the people and places, too! Another idea I'd really like for a Gen IX region is..... Mexico! For the love of Arceus, give me a box legend based on Quetzalcoatl!
