I’d say there would’ve been a better chance of that had Gou not also had a Rotomphone.

They’ll probably still find a way to trickle down info. We probably won’t get a trailer until the last episode of Sun and Moon.

Depends on just how battle focused things are. When there’s not a whole lot of battles going on, Gum battles are some of the most entertaining to watch since we get to see Ash’s skills as a trainer at work in an important battle rather than against TRio for the millionth time.

And even then, that concept only works with Pokémon that weren’t originally yours, not the ones you captured. Besides, that concept only exists in the games, not the anime.

If that kind of thing is their thought process, that feels pretty insulting to girls. It’s a sentiment like that that’s actually pretty sexist by essentially saying that just because you’re a girl, you shouldn’t be a part of serious battling and should just stick to girly things. And really, the...

But DP and XY were already pretty battle focused as was. How do we take that to the next level?

I just hope it’s not another case of them sticking the starter to mascot status and thus don’t let it evolve.

Does that one timeline feature Gao as a girl? Because I think that may have at least inched us closer to the correct timeline :p

Honestly, anime OCs might be a good path to go as it causes their longevity to become less predictable. Previous girls could really only go as far as their generation stretched (Misty was the exception since at the time a female player character hadn’t existed until partly through Johto) but an...

Maybe not doom, but it certainly isn’t exactly giving very good implications towards the girls especially when you do have girls in the cast that you never really have them in any other roles than things that can be painted as more feminine.

I’d say that’s a bit of a stretch especially considering that the sport theme that’s being represented in SwSh is soccer, a popular sport in the UK in general and one that is co-ed especially compared to many other sports

How do you figure that SWSH has more of a masculine feel to it? It maintains the prospect of a male or female protagonist that you can customize with numerous options. Even when it comes to that, the females have a lot more options than the males.

While good to have a character with a goal that’s not interchangeable, it just kinda more so sheds light on the fact that it should have been a girl to at least give us a female who is as prominent to the series as Ash especially with them doing a duel protagonist situation. It just seems weird...

The completely limiting factor creativly that basically dictates that if the companion is female then they must be into events akin to Contests (thus become interchangeable which no character should feel) or fall into the abyss of being completely directionless. Even Serena ended up falling into...

Contests in the games were an optional side activity in the games that were just as easily ignored but that’s not so much the issue as that’s the only goal that they could think to give the girls. I mean, what are the odds that with all the different personalities and tastes in the world that 2...

They could only do that twice because Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh were regions in close proximity. Contests were a competition that were local to that section of the Pokémon world. Unova, Kalos and Alola were established to be further away and thus had their own cultures. Unova had no kind of...

This. Contests, in spite of being a competition for both genders, was treated as the female companion’s answer to Ash’s badge quest without them even entertaining the prospect that the female companion could have any other goal.

Part of the problem there is that they not only feel more oriented towards the girls but they’re extremely limiting. Such a goal can only exist in regions where the sport does and as a result, since they’re only given to the girl of the group, the girl just becomes easily replaceable to the...
