Not in this arc he didn’t. Which is especially strange considering that he’s never won an onscreen battle that wasn’t against TR, yet suddenly can take in the likes of Oleana and her subordinates. It’s not really a believable skill curve.
By that logic, each of the Ultra Guardians captures count as the individual catching an Ultra Beast despite the fact that the captures occurred to stop the Pokémon and it wasn’t even kept. It feels like you just like to move the goal posts quite a bit so you can claim your argument is correct...
If anything, I could definitely see him showing up again in the Crown Tundra should they cover that given that his brother and niece are involved in that.
