Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

Actually no. The regional variants aren’t outright more powerful than the original counterparts, or are intrusive to their niche. If you need a fast arena trapper you won’t use Alolan Dugtrio over the regular one. Alolan Ninetales doesn’t intrude on Ninetales' niche. If you need a fire type you...

Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

It went something like this Surfing Pikachu mini game > Puka - Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia > Alolan Raichu

Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

No, but the surfing Pikachu with blue eyes is one.

Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

Psychic is a really poor choice compared to something actually super effective against Ground types. Palossand could just fire away shadow balls at Raichu. And if Raichu is escaping by floating away, it could run away from ground moves as an electric type anyway, since Raichu’s speed is...

Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

TechSkylander never said regional variants sucked. He just wanted to show that Raichu gaining psychic still leaves it vulnerable to Pallosand’s attacks. P.S. Bolding doesn’t emphasise a point if you bold almost the entire post.

Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

Psychic makes Raichu even more weak to Palosand though.

Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

Politely disagreeing is always an option.

Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

These forums are neither GameFreak’s office nor a democratic government so the majority here really doesn’t say anything. A large portion of these forums doesn’t like LGPE. Didn’t stop them from existing. You cannot just dismiss someone’s opinion by saying “Everyone else thinks differently!”...

Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

Well, Psychic makes Raichu even more weak to Pallosand than it was before...

Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

And Kommo-o have never been shown to prey on Raichu. And if Kommo-o was really the issue, why didn’t Raichu become fairy type? ALL dragons resist electric, and fairy is the common one SE against them.

Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

Nope. Alola isn’t any 'far' or 'near' to the Ultra Space. The portals just happen to open up due to the disturbances caused by Nebby and Necrozma during the (U)SM stories. Poison and Fighting? Poison types and fighting types are not a threat to Raichu. Marowak became Fire to fight grass types...

Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

As someone who's favourite Pokemon is Raichu, I'll never say no to more Raichu Variants (BUT JUST MAKE THE KANTONIAN RAICHU AVAILABLE ATLEAST SOMEWHERE IN THE GAME) Seriously, the absence of Kanto Raichu in SM was the worst thing in the game imo. An Electric/Fire Raichu would be a dream some true.

Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

Something like Safari zone would be a simple solution.

Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

They end up with bad designs. See: Alolan Persian. There are SO. many. Possibilities. But they went with a meme-Pokemon of all things. And the Diglett line could end up lots better.

Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

I’m never going to be convinced that most of the Alolan form lines are truly new designs. They’re too close to the original to be superior to a completely new Pokémon of the same concept. It can work that way if Gamefreak want it to. See: Talonflame and Vikavolt. They’re quite revolutionary...

Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

They could make more noticeable changes while still including the Pele's hair thing. Remove the strands of hair on Diglett and it’s almost the same as Kanto Diglett, and Meowth is nothing more than a recolour.

Should regional variants become a series mainstay?

Even though I voted 'yes', this covered my sentiments perfectly. My favourite Pokemon, all the time shunned by GameFreak, but when it finally got attention, it became ‘ becuase Pancakes’ like Soki said. This is probably the last thing Raichu is getting, but it botched up the entire appeal of the...
