I’m guessing because that was what they were given when they were handed a copy of the DP source code and were told “remake this in a slightly revamped art style”.

I know people often accuse Pokémon of not putting in the effort. But I feel for $60 + taxes and currency inflations we at least deserve a functional game shipped in cartridge. Don’t the fans deserve even a well polished title screen when booting up the game?
