Yeah, it hasn't appeared since AG. I assume Mallow will battle it, and since it will turn into the Sunny Form, there's a good chance there will be harsh sunlight, so maybe it could activate an ability?

But a part of the summary says, "fought together with Lana, Kiawe and Mallow." We know Lana fought the Totem Wishiwashi and Kiawe will fight the Alolan Marowak, so the only other Pokemon she could help fight would be the Lurantis.
But, you do realise that stopping to go somewhere else while they were on the way to a different direction is basically what happened in about 80% of every filler episode in series like Johto and DP. They often came across a wild Pokemon or a person or a person with a Pokemon and helped them out...
So just because they're not walking from point A to point B it's screwing around? It's the same as every other series, except they're not travelling that often. Plus I still don't see how this is slice of life, just because the primary location is a school. Lots of the thing they do throughout...
It's not screwing around, not more so than any other episode in any other series that wasn't a Gym or League battle episode. Plus, it seems Ash seems to be doing more training battles than in the last couple of series.
It's both. Lurantis is in the title and is the Totem Pokemon, as shown in the opening, but Fomantis and Diglett will also appear, as stated in the summary.
