Having just watched the episode, outside of Delia and Oak, nobody was on the ships' decks, meaning that nobody else could've gotten a clear view of the unmasked Kukui. And, even if they were still somehow able to see it (despite not being shown to be having a clear view of it), like them...
Personally, something like a "superhero revealing his identity"-type of story, with Kukui choosing to reveal his identity to Ash behind closed curtains, after their battle, would've been far better. It would've done a better job at delivering a satisfying emotional pay-off to the whole subplot...
Everyone's talking about how the writers could potentially ruin this episode by screwing up the battle (or, at least, they were when I started to write this), yet another issue that ticks me off more about this episode, that no one's talking about, is the fact that Kukui's alter ego is...
