There is one thing the animé never hesitates to spoil beforehands and it is the evolutions. I don't remember one time the animé surprised us with the evolution of a main character's Pokémon since BW days. Evolving Mareanie in this episode would be too unorthodox for the staff to do.

Evolutions are mostly being spoiled and revealed earlier. If there was an evolution, we'd have known by now imho.

Based on the love and affection between the trainer and the Pokémon, James deserves to win this battle more than Jessie. But I can see Jessie winning the match only to face Ash in the following round and let Pikachu get his revenge from Mimikyu from the early episodes.

I still have expectations from this one, but seeing how SM series have been handling battles and how tiny amount of Pokémon the two characters in particular have, I suppose we will have "let's kill the time" moments in the first half and there will be an underwhelming battle in the second half...
