I wouldn't say that. Outside of remakes, the only special cameos have been Prof. Oak in Sinnoh and Red and Blue in Alola (the latter were joined by several characters from other regions). PWT and Rainbow Rocket honored all the regions (Giovanni may have been the leader, but he barely stood out)...

I don't see how LGPE took the place of DP remakes, as the latter wouldn't have worked for a Switch debut. Blame USUM if anything. LGPE might have taken valuable resources from the 2019 games, though.

Some Kanto Pokemon are still very neglected, but it would be better for that to be addressed in LGPE than the 2019 games. I'm just curious about GS' 20th anniversary and how long it will take for the games to be remade in some fashion, but I am not holding my breath for anything great after LGPE.
