I'm pretty sure that the anime has been taking place in Paldea even since Diana left. It's been mentioned in the intros that they went back to Paldea to look for the rest of Lucius' Pokemon. Plus, the desert and Pokemon featured in the last few episodes make the Paldea connection even more obvious.
