I like Final Fantasy I and even II more than most seem to. Unlike many others, I actually like the spells-per-day system that the first title uses for the PS remake (and original) and don't really consider it to be a dated spell system at all. It's simply how D&D is played, and I, for one...
While we're on the subject of FE supports - unless I'm just a hair too late to join that bandwagon - am I the only one who dislikes the idea of those taking place on the battlefield, instead of at a camp or any other time? It really doesn't make much sense to me for characters to be catching up...
Well, I guess that may depend on which message board you're on, since it is one of the more "love it or hate it" kind of games, depending on one's stance. I know one of the primary reasons FFX is so well-loved was because it was in the same boat as FFVII, in that it was the first entry-point to...
While I don't intend to change your opinion, and you are certainly entitled to yours, one thing to keep in mind is that one of the main reasons FFVI is highly rated is because it was way ahead of its time. In 1994, there was nothing (that I know) that had as much character chemistry and...
Looking back, I really don't think that the N64 was that great of a console. A lot of the games on the system had rather clunky controls and haven't really aged particularly well, as a result. And the controller itself was...a bit odd in its design.
I consider the GameCube to be Nintendo's...
I found Ico to be nothing more than a tedious escort mission, with dull puzzles. I pushed myself to play through it to the end just so that I could say I did. The ending did not change my view on it or really "move" me all that much.
I just don't see it as an example of video game art like...
Fair enough, but the thing is, even that last statement isn't wholly true. In fact, one of the examples I used, KOTOR, has turn-based combat (even if it doesn't look or feel like it, and doesn't use random-monster encounter rates or a separate battle screen); and the Dragon Age (Origins...
Just so you know, not all WRPGs are all about world exploration. That is merely one style of the RPGs made in the west, and most of them are the ones made by Bethesda (The Elder Scrolls, Fallout 3), because that's what they do. But games made by companies like Bioware and Black Isle/Obsidian...
I feel like I’m the only person on his forum who wasn’t all that crazy about Xenoblade Chronicles. The characters are decent, and the setting is interesting, but I wasn't really too fond of the MMO-style combat, or especially the bland and generic fetch- and...
I happen to like both JRPGs AND WRPGs. Both sides of the Pacific and beyond make great RPGs in their own rights, and as long as the game's setting, story, and characters are well-written and memorable, they're all simply just "RPGs" to me.
