Preview 2021 Episode Previews

I mean... Even so, the writers clearly have taken notice of Inteleon's Popularity if we're seeing it in the Anime before we even see Drizzile.
Not to mention the writers could've given Sobble literally any other reaction towards seeing Inteleon.
They could've shown Sobble being put off by seeing Inteleon or completely indifferent towards it

But instead they chose to turn Sobble into a complete Fanboy and suddenly deciding to do a complete 180° on training/battling just so it can evolve lmao. This most definitely feels like a straight up Nod to Inteleon's Popularity lol
I meant popularity charts are useless to predict what stage a main cast starter would end up in, not that they completely disregard it. Everyone is free to manipulate and present the info from their own biases. Just look at "Will Torracat evolve?" debate.

Just realised if Farfetch'd is evolving in that battle against Wikstrom, all of Ash's pokemon this series (so far) would've evolved by battling Steel-type specialists. That's neat.

Actually Dragonite didn't evolved by battling a steel-type trainer tho: It evolved by saving Ash from Team Rocket.

True, but I didn't count that cause he hadn't caught it at that point. Like I meant when he had them under his ownership.

This might be Koharu's (Chloe's) dream.
She is unaware of the existence of Galarian (Ponyta & Rapidash), still she had a dream depicting the picture above.
She informs her dad about the strange dream,
"I was riding a creature similar to Rapidash but it was looking different and it looked fairly bright and similarly My Eevee was riding a Ponyta like creature. I'm so confused"
Then Sakuragi (Cerise) thinks for a moment

"It might be Galarian forms of Ponyta and Rapidash"
Shows Koharu some images of Galarian Pony
"These are the one who came in my dream"
Ash and Goh were getting ready to Go Galar to meet opal.
"There's only one person to solve your mysterious dream, It's Opal"
Ash & Goh call Koharu to come along with as they are also going to meet Opal.
Sakuragi sends her daughter along with the duo.

They have arrived to Galar. Now they are set to meet Opal.
They finally meet 16 years old Opal.
Opal finds Koharu to be interesting and after listening to her problem
"I Know what does your dream mean, Walk around Glimwood tangle, you'll find a person who will be riding on a Galarian Rapidash, He is yours fiance."

He is one, though. He only made a cameo in the Diancie movie, but he did show up.

Ah, didn't realize that. I think I skipped most of the XY movies (or at the very least only half watched them) so that would explain why I don't have any recollection of him.

I think that's mainly because she's been on the down low in terms of appearances. Since she's not around as much, it becomes more interesting when she does get focus.

...Though this probably means that if she's a main character now, that special-ness won't exist anymore.

I don't necessarily agree with this. For me, it's not really a matter of Chloe feeling "special" but that I find her a more relatable and honestly interesting character than Ash or Goh. I love Ash, he's one of my all time favorite characters, but his Journeys portrayal has left a lot to be desired so far. And Goh, while he has interesting traits and a different personality than many of Ash's other friends, hasn't really been able to display that all that much and ends up coming across as one note most of the time, which is disappointing.

Like I said, they're both good characters, and they have nice chemistry, but I just don't feel that they can carry this series on their own. It was okay for a little while, but 3+ years of it would definitely more negatively impact my overall feelings on this particular series. I think adding Chloe to the mix can plus up the chemistry even more and create additional opportunities or storylines that might not be possible with just Ash and Goh leading the way.

I like Chloe, but it isn't because she feels special exactly. She has a pretty relatable conflict, feels refreshing among the other female leads and from what I've seen, her focus episodes are all around really solid. I think including her in Ash and Goh's travels would definitely help to mix things up and give her more time to develop. She just became a trainer, so having her and her Pokemon experience the world together and learn more about different Pokemon sounds pretty interesting. Plus, Journeys has desperately needed a prominent girl within the main cast from the start, so having a likable and interesting character like Chloe possibly fill that role is a good thing in my book.

Let's just hope she doesn't devolve into just another Pokegirly-girl...

(...though I WOULD like to see her in some Contests)

I’d rather see Go in some Contests - what happened to Aceburn’s interest in dancing?!
I think they made it into a single episode plot device since iirc it has never been acknowledged after the one episode (or before, even). At this point I wonder if it was a bait to emulate Pikachu's goodbye.
Also Raboot Sucks At Dancing
Contest's Are For The Pokegirls
TIL Ash is a Pokegirl.

She's more in awe of Pokemon things we take for granted, than anything else. I think she'll help her dad with his research more than Ash and Go, who have their own goals. In Go's debut, he wanted to study Lugia rather than catch it, but he doesn't do that anymore.

Mmm. Probably my bugbear with Gou is that he was more interesting when he and Ash were research buddies trying to study Pokémon rather than shoehorning in a "Gotta Catch 'em All" goal haphazardly which detracts from character building.

Unpopular opinion maybe; That'll be boring. I’d love if the writers didn’t go with this path since the entire point of Koharu was that she doesn’t want to follow into the footsteps of her father necessarily.

Ash’s Goal Wasn’t To Become Top Coordinator
JN022 Raboot’s Dance Sucked. I Can Do Better Than That Even When I’m Sick Which I Am Sick Now.

Where was it said that Gou should be top coordinator? Only participating in contests was mentioned.

...good for you I guess? You can dance better than a fictional anime rabbit character with different body proportions?
Weird flex, but okay.

So going off of the fact that Koharu is wearing the same outfit in the preview that she’s wearing in the Galar fossil episode, I guess that’s gonna be her permanent outfit when she’s traveling with Ash and Go.

Popularity charts are useless at this point. People can use it to justify anything they like... I don’t take them into factor now. TPCi clearly has more and different ways of gauging popularity which we don’t have access to.

Yeah, I am pretty sure they audience test some of this stuff. It is how Pikachu became the mascot after all.

What if Opal sees her and decided to do what she did to Bede in the games? Making Koharu her successor because she wears Pink?
