A pure Ghost type, Greavard rests peacefully underground, sticking its candle up out of the ground. The candle is used like a lure, lighting up to draw in trainers. When someone approaches, it jumps out of hiding and barks with a spooky cry, but it doesn't seem to do this maliciously. In fact, Greavard is very friendly, and if you give it even a little affection, it will follow you everywhere. Greavard also has the Pickup ability, granting it the ability to pick up random items outside of battle. Whether you're exploring the wilds of Paldea or taking on the Gym Challenge, this is a very useful ability to have.
The problem? Well, they say that Pokémon are terrifying creatures, and Greavard is no exception, because this Ghost Dog Pokémon slowly (and unintentionally) drains your life energy as you spend time near it. (Now, the obvious solution is to catch/befriend a Xerneas, then your little doggo friend can have all of the life force treats. We acknowledge that this might be difficult for some readers, so we offer the alternative solution of stocking up on Miracle Seeds, which are not only filled with life force, but they also boost the power of Grass type moves.)
That's not the only dangerous part of this Pokémon though. Greavard gets its name from its incredibly powerful jaws, strong enough to crush bones and cause grievous injuries. Trainers will need to take care the Pokémon doesn't get too affectionate with them, or this Pokémon's tricks could end up turning the Trainer themselves into their treat! On the plus side though, these talents also make it a perfect companion to protect you from scary bad guys. (Side note: Bulbagarden does not condone violence against scary bad guys.)

Some additional points of note:
- The candle on Greavard's head bears some resemblance to Litwick, as does its tendency to suck the life out of people. Could there be a possible connection? Is this perhaps another case of convergent development, like Wigglet? Does this mean we'll have to put up with years of people calling it Litlick as a joke?
- The student who filmed Greavard in the video mentioned something about a Ghost Type Pokémon Club at Naranja/Uva Academy. Could there be other clubs for other types?
- The video description stated that it was "uploaded by a student from the Paldea region", so despite appearances, it appears that student didn't entirely have the life sucked out of them. Just enough that they were very tired.
