Holiday 2023 Key Art, showing Snover, Abomasnow, Delibird, and Pikachu in a Santa Cap
Pokémon Sleep will be marking the holiday season later this month with the Holiday 2023 — Double Dream Shard Research event, running in-game for the week leading up to Christmas. As the name suggests, this event will give Researchers double the regular amount of Dream Shards through sleep research, as well as offering increased chances of meeting Shiny Pokémon. The game will also be receiving a small update ahead of this event, with a significant increase planned for the effect of Dream Shard Magnet S skill.

Holiday 2023 — Double Dream Shard Research
This week long event will start on Monday December 18th at 4:00am local time, and run through to Christmas Day on Monday December 25th at 3:59am local time. To participate and gain bonuses and rewards from this event, Researchers will need to conduct their sleep research for this week on Greengrass Isle. Sleep tracking on any other map will not trigger these event bonuses. Snorlax on Greengrass Isle during this event with have Rawst Berries set as one of its favorite Berries. These berries can be found on Ice-type Pokémon, so Researchers may wish to ensure they can find some Pokémon of the appropriate type prior to the start of the event.

As part of this event, Researchers will be able to receive a variety of special rewards, including a staggering 60 Pikachu Candies, by completing a set of special missions that will be added on top of the standard weekly missions. Pokémon Sleep will also debut its latest special Pokémon, Pikachu (Holiday), a Pikachu wearing a Red Santa Hat, during this event. These Pokémon are currently exclusive to this event, and will only appear after the event if players use a Pikachu (Holiday) Incense item, which is presumably one of the rewards from the aforementioned missions.

Researchers will also be able to take advantage of Candy Boost for this event. This event-limited function will give Pokémon twice the effect from candies, at a cost of using six times the amount of Dream Shards per candy. Considering how many Dream Shards people have been saving up without anything to spend them on, this should mean Researchers will be able to power-level many of their Pokémon during this period, assuming they haven't already spent all their candy anyway.

The following bonuses also will be active for sleep research during this event period:
  • Researchers will gain twice the usual number of Dream Shards through sleep research.
  • Researchers can encounter a few Pokémon of different sleep types regardless of their own sleep type for the day.
  • Main skill Dream Shard Magnet S will be twice as effective.
  • Researchers will have an increased chance of being able to meet a Shiny Pokémon.
On the final night of the event, on Christmas Eve, December 24th, researchers will receive 1,225 bonus sleep points, and will be able encounter many Pokémon of different sleep types regardless of their own sleep type for the day. All other bonuses from the event will also be active.

Additionally, the following Pokémon will also appear more frequently during sleep research throughout the event:
  • Much Greater Appearance Rate
    • Pikachu (Holiday)
  • Greater Appearance Rate
    • Delibird, Glaceon, Spheal
  • Slightly Greater Appearance Rate
    • Snover, Abomasnow
Pikachu in a Santa Hat and Delibird, together with a present of in-game items

  • Event bonuses apply only for sleep tracking that begins within the event period, and do not apply to sleep tracking during the tutorial, or to sleep data tracked before the event, even if the researcher waits to review their sleep research after the event has started.
