We have done countries, states, and days of the year.

If you can associate a Pokémon for each genre of music, what would they be?

Here are mine:
Rock - Charizard
Pop - Pikachu
R&B - Blastoise
Smooth jazz - Clefable
Hip-Hop - Umbreon
Electronica - Porygon-Z
Country - Dugtrio
Classical - Gardevoir
Disco - Espeon
New Age - Ninetales
Metal - Steelix

Anyone have their own associations?

Heavy metal - Steelix
Death metal - Darkrai
Screech metal - Exploud
Distortion metal - Giratina
Viking metal - Dialga

Bet you didn't know there are that many different kinds of metal.

Trust me, there's more.

Electronica - Emolga
Techno - Seismitoad (The speakers would make excellent sub-woofers)
Glitch - Porygon-Z
Trance - Xatu
Happy Hardcore (Yes, it's a real genre) - Drillbur
Spacecore - Beheeyem
Rave - Hypno
Dubstep - Exploud

(There are hundreds more electronic genres as well)

Soul- Jynx.
HeavyTech- Golurk.
Techno- Reuniclus.
Trance- Unown.

That's my list so far...

Gospel - Jynx

Enough has been said. :p

But anyway, here are some others I think are fitting:

Power metal - Blaziken (Doesn't Blaziken just scream "power metal"?)
Electronic - Registeel (He looks like Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo!)
Punk - Scrafty (As much as I hate Scrafty's guts, he fits the punk image perfectly.)
Space rock - Beheeyem
World - Solrock
Trance - Lunatone (World and trance go hand-in-hand, don't they?)
Salsa - Ludicolo (Enough is said.)
Dubstep - Exploud

Well, that's all I got.

Hmm:

Power Metal - Blaziken
Goa Trance - Medicham
Trance - Porygon-Z

Scrafty - Hardcore Rap & Punk Rock
Jigglypuff - J-Pop/K-Pop
Krookodile - Hard Rock

Reggae - Simipour
Country - Tauros

That's it. I can't choose a Pokémon for other genres.

FYI, the reason why I associate Pop music with Pikachu is because Pikachu is easily the most popular Pokémon. I don't get why many seem to associate Pop music with Jigglypuff.

Lol, Charizard is quad weak to his own genre. Wouldn't a Rock-type be better?
Bouffalant- Disco
Lumineon- New Rave

That's mostly because 1) It's cute and pop-ish looking, and 2) One of its main traits is singing. So naturally people associate Jigglypuff with pop. I'm going to have to agree, too.

If Earthbound/Mother 3/Mother music counted as an actual genner of music (to me it does...in some ways. i guess), would Mewtwo be a good reprisentive for it?

Since those games can be kinda sad, dark, deep. And misunderstood...and psychic. Yeah.

=P

Mewtwo...or Mew for the happier notes.....

Hmmn (orrr Jirachi? maybe?)
