I have seen a few people on social media whining about how lazy Niantic are for not allowing Pokémon to be sent back to GO from Let's GO.

My question is, is it as simple as these random people with no programming or coding knowledge claim it is? How difficult would it be to update Pokémon GO so that it suddenly had the compatibility to take back Pokémon from Let's GO and then recalculate stats and everything else during the transfer?

I have the same kind of question for the core series games. Would Gamefreak be able to potentially patch XY so that you could send Pokémon from USUM back to XY? If it is possible, how difficult would it be?

I assume it would be difficult and time consuming, enough so that it would be a waste of time implementing it (if it is even possible to begin with), but I don't know WHY it would be so difficult to achieve, and would like to know why. Basically, I need ammunition so that when people keep whining about it, I have something to back myself up when I shut them down.

I think the biggest problem is that GO's data is simpler than LGPE. Go doesn't have EVs, IVs, abilities, OTs, or four-slot movesets, and their step counting system is different from LGPE's. Allowing Pokemon to be sent back and forth between the two would require changing how GO stores Pokemon data. It might also cause balancing issues-what's to stop players from catching a bunch of Pokemon in LGPE and sending them to GO for easy candy? Or training a Pokemon in LGPE to avoid candy altogether?

Maybe it's not about laziness, but it's about Pokemon not being useful enough in Go. They can participate in gyms and be collection trophies, but that's it. In the LGPE world they can learn more moves, run along the player, participate in a relatively more complex battle system and more, it's the real Pokemon world so they are "more alive" there.

On the other hand, maybe the problem isn't converting LGPE data into Go data, but rather the problem is how to be sure that Go->LGPE->Go transferences take back their original values. They would have to store the original data somewhere when the Pokemon leaves Go instead of destroying it, and that would take up valuable space.
