This is a oneshot that just whizzed through my head and Ineeded to get it on paper before I forget it.
Yes, this is EXACTLY the same character from my Pokemon Knights University application, albeit before he went to the college. He has a expanded team, considering he had to leave most of them behind when he went to PKU. This takes place afew years prior during James travels to Hoenn, before he met back up with Robert and Laura in Sinnoh.

James looked back over his Team, who marched behind him through the forest. Some Looked tired, some looked like they could march all night. For the Sake of those pokemon, James turned, ducking so as not to be hit by a near Branch.
"Okay Team, we'll set up Camp here Tonight. we'll get to the Hoenn League tomorrow. You need your rest"
Chomp, Jame's Totodile collapsed on the floor and immediately went to sleep, James wasn't surprised, It had been ecstatic about fighting against the Elite 4 ever since we got all 8 badges.
"Poor little chomp, you need the rest, go to sleep. Talon! Blade! Go and Get some firewood!"
James's Grovyle and Scyther gave a sharp nod and leap into the Underbrush. Their Simultaneous movements made it look like a large green monster had just galloped into the bush. James wasn't surprised, They were both very strong, powerful and very Hardworking, a perfect pair.
James arranged 3 logs in a triangle to act as beds. James picked up the exhausted Totodile and laid it on one of them. James was now left with 3 pokemon. Aero the Aerodactyl, Draco the Gabite and Scorch the Charmeleon, the latter of which was James starter, and the closest to him.
Afew Minutes later, Talon and blade came back with a large piles of sticks and twigs. Scorch set them aflame in the center of the log triangle and Aero controlled the heat with Defog. After a short snack on some Berries attatched to the twigs, the group fell asleep. Aero Roosted on the ground, head under wing. Draco leant against the prehistoric saurian with hi Fins behind his head. Grovyle clung onto a tree, not sleeping but watching the midnight Sky, like he always did. Scyther lay against the same tree. Totodile slep on one of the logs. Scorch Lay against the Log that James slept on. James had mixed emotions at this time, and as such, mixed dreams. Part of his head was excited about the upcoming Pokemon league that he'd come all the way to Hoenn For. Part of him thought about his house back in Kanto, with his Mother, Father, Little Brother Robert and Roberts pet Bulbasaur. Part of him thought about the current situation and the last thought about Laura; James's attractive, Sweet, Kind travelling companion who had departed for Contests in johto a few days ago, and what might be being said if she was here with him. All these Images suddenly melted away in a blast of blue liquid, then another. Then a blast of fire, then a very loud BANG.
James opened his eyes. the sky was Dark and the stars were out. What had woken him? James's drowsy and blurred vision picked up totodile standing on top of him. Jumping up and down and yelling in a panicky fashion. At first James thought it was another one of totodile's silly little games and shrugged it off, but then Scorch appeared, looking equally panicked and eager for James to get up. Seeing both of his Pokemon in a distressed phaze, James got up and asked them what was wrong.
The two reptiles pulled james over through the trees and into a small clearing. In it was a large Rock that instantly captured his attention. His other pokemon were also staring at it. The Rock was about the size of a Kitchen Oven, it had crashed, obviously because of the large flaming crater that it sat in. The Forest was illuminated by a strage Aura that it gave off, ike a majestic pillar of Green/Blue/Pink light. A Vague shape was moving around inside it, Humanoid, but with strange features James Couldn't make out.
"What is this thing?" James asked himself and his pokemon. The Pocket Monsters just Shrugged. Totodile was clinging to james's leg like a frightened toddeler. The Rock appeared to be shaking, like a Giant egg, it began to crack and shatter. Chips of strange stone flew in all Directions. The Rock finally tumbled into 3 pieces, and the Weird Aura suddenly intensified around it, as if the light had eurupted from the stone itself. A Purple gemstone floated eeirily in the center, rising up slowly. James and his pokemon could only watch in awe as the light around it started pooling towards the stone, which was now in the center of the moving shape. The Light filled the shape around the stone like it was being painted on. Once all the light had disappeared into the creature, It became clear as to what it was. From a distance it would appear human, but when it's features were focused on it was a strange thing indeed. Four, Tendril like Arms swayed in the air. Legs, footless and stilt-like hung off it's Red and blue Body. It's Head had a face with no mouth, just eerie, lifeless eyes and a blue line that separated the two halves of it's face. The Thing looked as if it had been made from red and blue string, apart from the purple Gem ingorged in it's chest.
"Deoxys..." James whispered breathlessly. At that Moment, both Beings stared into eachother's eyes.There was 5 secobds of absolute silence, then as if It's head had been struck with a Mallet, Deoxys wretched and Held it's head, letting off Loud, foghorn like screams. It's eyes illuminated Red. It's tendils formed together, a Large Ball of energy forming between them, sparkling with mystic light. With all it's might, It threw the ball at James. Shocked and stunned, James just managed to avoid the potentially Fatal blow by jumping backwards as fast as possible, the Shockwave still caught him though, the blast hurling him off balance and smashing him against a tree.
James's vision blacked out for a split second. Then his conscience returned, and it hurt alot. James rubbed his head and Stood up to see the fireworks being let off infront of him. Naturally James's pokemon had retaliated in his defence, and were attacking at their full potential. Blade had leapt forward to Inapacitate Deoxys, swinging it's scythes. Deoxys blocked the attacks with it's own tendrils. Scyther was a tough cookie though, and continued the fistfight with the legendary invader. Aerodactyl Came from behind with an Iron Head, glowing bright white. Just before Impact, Deoxys figure Changed almost fluidly. it's neck melted into it's body. it's arms became large and Flat. It's legs became thick and Pillar-like. It's whole body turned defensive. Aero's attack hit, but quickly bounced off. Using the Oppertuninty, the cosmic Being smashed blade with it's arm, stunning it with sheer power. Deoxys then changed back t it's previous form, then into a new one again. Sleeker, Sharper Tendrils and a Crown of horns on it's head. It Stabbed Aero's wings with the Tendrils, The spiked arms pierced through the thin leathery skin, Causing aerodactyl to Shriek in pain. Deoxys threw the Saurian to the ground, trickling Blood. Blade leapt back and cut the creatures head off in one smooth motion. Victory! but then to everyones horror, the head dissolved into light and reformed back on it's shoulders. Scyther was stunned, just enough time for a knockout punch to the abdomen. The motion seemed sudden yet was as if it happened in slow motion. as the Scyther's body tumbled down to the ground, it seemed to be faded and grey. Blade was out.
Talon ran fom tree to tree, fluid movements before a final leap Towards Deoxys. Grovyle leaves glowed green and came together to create a Sword of energy. Grovyle's leaf Blade Sliced through the abdomen of the legendary, but it reformed and Talon was Hit by another ball of energy. It hit bullseye, sending the Wood Gecko pokemon careening to the ground in a cloud of dust and smoke, unconscious.
"Thers gotta be a way to beat this thing!" James told himself as he helplessly watched his pokemon be knocked out and juggled by this sudden intruder. Then James remembered the Gemstone in it's chest...
"You three! Aim for the gem in it's chest! It's the only part that won't regenerate!" James yelled to his remaining 3 pokemon: Totodile, Gabite and Charmeleon.
Draco was the first to React. Immediatley he charged head on for a Dragon Rush. It Hit dead on before Deoxys could prevent it. BAM! Right in the chest! Deoxys let out another Fog horn cry. One of Pain. James had found the weakness. Next Came Chomp, Multiple Blasts of Hydro pump. The sound of the pressurized water hit so hard it made a deafaning boom sound. BOOM BOOM BOOM. Each hit made Doexys Flinch. James smiled. Before the attack Continued, Deoxys head turned sharply to face them. It's piercing eyes cut straight through them all. James could feel a buzzing in his head, then it intensified into massive booms like Jets into his ears. He held his head in pain.
"Aaargh!" He screeched. The Last thing James could see before his eyes clamped shut wre his own pokemon clamping their heads and screaming, and Deoxys's blue, eerie eyes glowing. All of James dreams and thoughts pounded together and melted away in a single puddle of imagination and willpower. James felt as if he and the puddle of what was his mind were about to fall into a deep, dark infinite hole of turmoil and distress.
Then James's will fought and won for a few seconds. James could see Chomp and Draco Lying on the ground shivering with their eyes closed. He Saw Talon's limp body lying on the ground surrounded by an impact crater. He saw Blade in a twisted and mangled position on the ground, still holding his Abdomen in pain. He Saw Aero, his wings ripped and torn by Tendrils, lying in a small puddle of blood. James also saw the face of Deoxys.. The spatial being was levitating infront of him, holding a Final ball of energy. James knew his Fate was near. Most of James limbs were broken or at breaking point. scars and bruises covered his body and James was dripping blood from his nose and ears. He was hapless. Deoxys evil eyes layed on him, then suddenly jerked. The Ball of energy disappeared revealing three glowing prongs sticking out of it's chest around the Gem core. Deoxys looked down, it's eyes widened to circles with dots in them. In a motion faster than a Linoone on steroids it looked back up, then screamed and finally went limp, shattering into millions of fragments of light, apart from the gem, which then plopped to the floor, having lost it's colourful shining aura and was now no more than a dull, grey rock, all in the fraction of a second.
Scorch recoiled his Slash attack from the gemstone that smoked on the floor. James and scorch looked at one another in relief, smiles across their faces despite the fact that they were both heavily bleeding and were barely conscious. Scorch's knees buckled as he hit the ground in agonizing sleep, moaning a final cry, whilst James mashed in the numbers of the nearest pokecenter into his pokehear and pressed the 'emergency' option. His head hit the floor and his eyes closed, but before his mind shut down into unconsciousness he whispered:
"I am SO not ready for the elite 4..."
