American Politics Thread

Ok, so...
You don't know anything about Marx.
First you bait me...
At this point you're just a troll who can't handle other opinions.
Then you insult me...
And stop derailing this thread with your Red Scare nonsense.
You ask me to stop derailing the thread that you derailed by bringing Marx into the discussion yesterday...
American Presidential Election Thread, 2020 Edition
And then you quickly change the topic, after being the person who originally derailed the whole thread.

You sure are a pro.

(and now I am finally blocking you, bye!)

Where tf is my boy Vermin Supreme?

Good news!

He's running again for President in 2020, this time for the Libertarian Party.

Wrong. We were talking about Graham's and McConnel's smearing of everyone as marxists. You then proceeded to start this derail by going on about what you imagine marxism to really be.

And then you started to insult people by calling them "marxists". That's why I observed that you must be a troll. And so far you're only continuing this derail because of your hatred of imaginary "marxists" on this forum.

No.

Nice try, but BEFORE that happened...
This sounds awfully like projection. It's you personal feelings about Trump and biases against supposed "marxists" that lead you to defend the indefensible.
This post was the first mention of Marxism yesterday, and you made it.

You are aware that people can just go a few pages back and check who mentioned Marx, Marxism, Marxists first, right? So there's no point in trying to deny that you derailed this thread.

So, the next Democratic debates start tomorrow. What’s everyone expecting?

Biden's approval numbers to fall yet again.

Thank god.

Oh, and Trump will once again become jealous over not being constantly on the TV and proceed to scream on twitter.

I just want to clear something up. Yelling at eachother to stop derailing the thread and then continuing the offtopic convo makes you wrong too (and it's not just one person in this thread doing it). If someone is derailing the thread, ignore it or report it, and don't reply to the offtopicness.

This is going to be my only post here as certain members derail the thread using asinine posts to try and get you annoyed and banned.

I think in my original post I said I’m no fan of Trump I’m not. That said he’s playing the media like a fiddle and going off the “uh but far right” replies he’s playing some of you to.

He’s got certain sections of the media and I assume it would apply to people here to calling Neo-Con Jewish people alt right and the germans from WWII.

He’s managed to make a small group of far-left marxists and antisemites the face of the democratic party. This isn’t derailing the thread I’m saying this is his plan.

The majority of democrats let alone independent voters want more moderate policy. I think he’s playing a amazing game of bait and switch.

Unless you want Trump reelected I suggest you forget about calling him and his supporters far right or racist. Trump is basically as far right as a 90s democrat. You might not understand due to your own bias but that appeals far more than the Green New deal or BS like that.

Attack Trump on policy don’t attack him personally or his supporters it makes the democrats seem nuts. Especially to people outside if America like myself who have though of themselves as natural democrats.

I think the intransigence of the democrats will come back bite them. Why are you against a wall if you’re democrat? It provides lots of working class jobs and stops the influx of cheap illegal labour thus driving up minimum wage naturally ie supply and demand. Trump would have given anything to get that wall I bet if you’d ok wall but free health care for all he’d have conceded.

Can I ask a question to any dem voters not trolling and won’t “flame you”. Who do you want to win the Dem nomination?

This would be shocking if it were true.

But it's not.

How about you stop calling people "marxists" or "anti-semites" with zero friggin proof? You love to preach about others being biased, yet fail to notice your own bias.

Why are you against a wall if you’re democrat? It provides lots of working class jobs and stops the influx of cheap illegal labour thus driving up minimum wage naturally ie supply and demand.

It's not going to provide any of those things. Besides, his racist wall will never be built anyway. Democrats realize that this country has bigger problems than a shitty wall.

For someone who continues to claim to be no fan of Trump, you share a lot of beliefs with him, down to his smearing of his opposition.

1. Unless you want Trump reelected I suggest you forget about calling him and his supporters far right or racist.

1. Not an option. Ignoring Trump’s racism is in effect normalizing it. It’s also a terrible electoral strategy, and there’s a perfect past example we can look at - David Duke’s run for US Senate and later Louisiana governor. In Duke’s 1990 Senate campaign, the Democrats tried to dance around the elephant in the room as much as they could; they treated Duke like a typical Republican candidate because they feared energizing his base. The result? Duke lost, but made the race somewhat competitive, getting 45% of the total vote and 55% of the white vote. Fast forward a year later. Duke’s now running for governor of Louisiana after his unexpected good showing in the Senate race. It looks like he’s got momentum as he gets the 2nd most votes in the first round to advance to a runoff with Democrat Edwin Edwards. The Democrats take a different approach this time, relentlessly hammering Duke for his KKK past and neo-Nazi connections. And it works. Despite getting the same percentage of the white vote he did a year earlier, Duke’s share of the total vote plunges to below 40%. The reminders of just how horrible Duke was energized the Democratic base and drove anti-Duke voters to the polls. The same approach is necessary against Trump.

2. This is simply wrong. Study after study has shown the wall is bad for the economy (https://news.stanford.edu/press-releases/2018/11/15/border-wall-cameefit-u-s-workers/), bad for the environment (6 ways the border wall could disrupt the environment), and just plain ineffective (Why the Wall Won't Work).

3. Warren or Sanders. They’re checking all of the boxes of what I’m looking for so far (see the Colon Powell video I posted earlier).

California governor signs law that would require Trump to release tax returns

California’s governor has signed a law requiring presidential candidates to release their tax returns before they can be listed on the state’s primary ballot.

Although California’s law is aimed at Trump, it would apply to all presidential contenders and candidates for governor.

The major Democratic 2020 contenders have already released tax returns for roughly the past decade. Trump has bucked decades of precedent by refusing to release his. Tax returns show income, charitable giving and business dealings, all of which Democratic state lawmakers say voters are entitled to know about.

Candidates will be required to submit tax returns for the most recent five years to California’s secretary of state at least 98 days before the primary. They will then be posed online for the public to view, with certain personal information redacted.

California is holding next year’s primary on 3 March, known as Super Tuesday because of the high number of states with nominating contests that day.

Big winners last night: Warren, Sanders, Bullock (who is wrong about pretty much everything but nevertheless performed well, and will probably see a boost in polling).

Big losers: Delaney, Ryan, and Hickenlooper. Hickenlooper's campaign is dead in the water at this point, I expect he'll drop out in the next week or two.

He’s managed to make a small group of far-left marxists and antisemites the face of the democratic party. This isn’t derailing the thread I’m saying this is his plan.
This is not true, and none of the Democrats Trump's stooge crew have been going after are Marxists or antisemites; speaking as a Marxist, though, I am curious what sort of Marxist could possibly exist besides a far-left one.
