Impeachment at this point really isn't worth it because Trump will be gone in 13 days anyways.

Preposterous. I can think of few precedents more dangerous to set than "a losing President is free to incite sedition against the government in their last two weeks in office without any fear of accountability."

It's like if we were all on a bus and the driver was clearly heavily intoxicated, but you were saying, "It's fine, there's a bus stop in just 3 miles, and a DUI checkpoint in 5."

At this point we just need something to keep him from running in 2024. We've seen what he's capable of, and we don't want any more of it.
It's possible that at that point Trump would no longer be in any condition to run. He could even be dead at that point.

This. He encouraged a group to storm the Capitol and they went in with the intent of getting Pence’s head. We saw how much damage can happen in just one day, giving another 13 could do much worse.

Removing him could be a bad idea because it would put Mike Pence in office, who could theoretically pardon Trump.

Respectfully, you said exactly this on an earlier page then completely ignored the justification for why it could still be the right thing to do.

It’s also more than possible that he could. And if this election and its aftermath are what him running looks like, then I would do anything I can to prevent it from happening again.

No it won’t, inauguration dates are set in stone. Impeachment proceedings can go beyond the president leaving office if it’s being done in order to prevent them running again.
It could also lead to the media believing that they are only doing this out of spite for Trump himself rather than for the people, which could lead to catastrophic losses for Democrats in the 2022 midterm elections, where they will already have an uphill battle.

Considering we had a literal terrorist attack yesterday, “what will the MAGAs think” should be pretty low on people’s priorities right now. These people think everything is a direct attack on Trump. We’ve been enabling it for four years and now at least four people are dead as a direct result. Doing nothing sets the precedent that this is okay, and is an unacceptable option, quite frankly.

They impeached Trump last year and then Dems won the Presidency and flipped the senate. Most media are either neutral or outright supportive of invoking the 25th amendment or impeachment. The exceptions are of course Fox and other right-wing propaganda outlets.

I was concerned about the possibility of an impeachment hearing stretching after the President is out of office, as people might that this would be something that should be handled by civilian courts instead of Congress.

Sometimes things that may be unpopular are necessary. We cannot allow this man to run again, not that he’s condoning domestic terrorists.

Nine members of Trump’s staff have resigned now, including the Transport Secretary.

You can't impeach someone if they are not in office. I think that Trump should instead face trial in criminal court as after January 20th he will be a civilian, not a politician.

Impeachment can follow them out of their term if it’s being done to prevent them from holding future offices, which we know for a fact he is intending to do if he gets his way. It’s important that he’s removed or impeached whilst in office, otherwise it sets a dangerous precedent that you can do whatever the fuck you want at the end of your term, even if it directly causes death.

It can happen too if a court finds him guilty of sedition and other acts, and it's unlikely that any future President would give him a pardon unless they drank the Trump Kool-Aid.
