Big winners last night: Warren, Sanders, Bullock (who is wrong about pretty much everything but nevertheless performed well, and will probably see a boost in polling).

Big losers: Delaney, Ryan, and Hickenlooper. Hickenlooper's campaign is dead in the water at this point, I expect he'll drop out in the next week or two.

This is not true, and none of the Democrats Trump's stooge crew have been going after are Marxists or antisemites; speaking as a Marxist, though, I am curious what sort of Marxist could possibly exist besides a far-left one.

They talk using Marxist lexicon and I can assure you there were/are plenty of Marxist antisemites. If you are a Marxist then to me you are just the other side of the coin from National Socialists. My Mother’s side of the family lived under the terrible Marxist regime of the USSR so please don’t come at me with excuses.

Ilhan Omar is an anti-Semite if I ever saw one.

I know what you're talking about because these Marxist atrocities happened in Communist Bulgaria as well. There was a whole web of concentration camps.

You can google "Belene Concentration Camp". It's where the Communist regime sent literally anyone who dared to disagree with them.

They were forced to do forced labour, etc, and were condemned as "enemies of the nation".

Even her own party (Democrats) criticized Omar for her anti Semitic comments...

That had more to do with Nancy Pelosi’s weakness than anything else. Plus, many of those high-ranking Democrats also get campaign donations from AIPAC, one of the pro-Israel lobbyist groups Omar criticized.

No???
I said that Nazis exist and are much more anti-Semitic than Omar.
Why do people think she is, anyway?

This is getting off topic again so I’ll try and steer things back on topic by saying there are no Nazis left. Throwing that term around as a blanket slur to anyone right of AoC does more harm than good.

There are plenty of racists on the right left wing but they are not Nazis. It’s this kind of hyperbolic language used by some on the left to shutdown differing opinions that lead to Trump getting elected.

As a left wing sort of person myself I’ve been called a Nazi online because I don’t want millions of immigrants coming in from the third world every year.

I wasn't calling the right wing Nazis. Neo-Nazis are a thing.

Anyway, who do you think will drop out next?

So....... I don't post in this thread cause I don't follow politics, but I don't think this Ilhan Omar chick is running for president? cue someone coming along to quote the title of the thread again

shakes broom at people

She came up because people said Trump saying if she doesn’t like America she can go back home. Then he said maybe she can fix her own country and then come back and show us how it’s done or something along those lines.

People are hung up on protecting her and the word racist and Nazi is thrown about a lot here...

Probably best to let the Omar debate die unless it’s in the context of her re-election bid, or Trump goes after her again.
Anyway, who do you think will drop out next?
Probably a good number of them. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the big names like Gilibrand and Castro call it quits if they can’t gain any traction tonight, which seems likely since it’s probably going to turn into the Kamala-Biden show.

As a Jew, I’m here to say: Ilhan Omar is not antisemitic

It’s not up to you alone to decide or do you agree with her Israel has the world under it’s spell? Just because she’s a Democrat does not excuse her comments. Perhaps it does for you but that’s just lack of principle on your part.

“As an X” statements don’t mean anything it’s just an argument from authority which people pick and choose when to ignore. Like when black Trump supporters say he’s not racist...

I can’t recall the name of the guy but that Republicans that made similar remarks was tossed under the bus rightly so. I think the rules should be applied fairly.

Back on topic I think it will end up being Biden and Harris.

Tulsi killed it at the last debate. Bernie and Liz held their ground on the previous one. Progressivism is seeming to be winning the day and hopefully it'll stay that way.

Oh, boy. If you're talking about who I think you are, there's no comparison between the two. I don't want to keep breaking my own advice, so I'll just say this: Israel's government is not infallible. Israel has its fair share of faults just like all other nations, which means it is just as fair game for criticism as everyone else. It is also not anti-Semitic to criticize groups that lobby on behalf of the Israeli government, especially when one such group is a major donor to so many congress members of both parties and can thus directly influence US policymaking.

I'm not the biggest fan of Tulsi, but she definitely had a strong showing tonight. If nothing else, it was a good audition for the VP spot. On the flip side, Kamala Harris is having a week to forget. She seems completely unprepared to talk about her prosecutorial record, which is alarming because she should know these questions are going to come up.
