Welcome to the Art Gallery!

Here you can post your creative works, like drawings (both traditional and digital), graphic art (sprites, signature banners, image manipulations, etc.), and multimedia creations (songs, music videos, etc).

If you would like to offer your creative services to other users, you can create an Art Shop thread. Be sure to read the Art Shop relevant rules before opening a shop though.

Rules

1. Please follow all forumwide Bulbagarden Rules
  • This includes the flaming rule, which applies when commenting on other people's art.
  • This also includes not posting porn or other inappropriate content.
  • Art containing gore/blood/other shocking content is allowed within spoiler tags.
2. Only make one thread for your artwork.
  • Just make a new post in it if you have new artwork to show.
  • You can make a separate thread if you do various different forms of art (e.g. drawing and making videos)
3. Put large images within spoiler tags.
  • This goes for images larger than 500px in either height or length.
  • Select the image > select the + button in the editing menu > select Spoiler > insert the title for your work > select Continue.
4. Don't use misleading spoiler tags or links.
- Be honest about what users can find in a spoiler tag or link, especially if the content contains shocking/gory/etc. material.

5. Don’t steal other people’s art (plagiarism).
- This includes tracing/editing someone else’s art.

6. Don’t hijack someone else’s thread.
- Post your art in your own art thread and not in someone else's.

7. Don't offer your artwork for payment.
- It is allowed to draw free requests or do art trades.

Note: The Art Gallery and Writers Workshop have different rules for mature themes. This is because writing is easier to tag and avoid for those that don't want to see it.

Art Shop Rules

These rules apply to Art Shop threads where you can open up a 'shop' and offer your talents to other users in the form of art, banners, avatars, sprites, or whatever it is that you specialize in!

1. Please follow all forumwide Bulbagarden Rules

2. Open one shop per service.
- If you make banners, but also sprites, you can open a separate shop for both.

3. Stick to the signature limits when making banners.
- The total size of signature banners should not exceed 600 pixels wide, 160 tall, and 500 kB.

4. Respect the shop owners and their rules.
- This includes being patient when waiting on your request, don't keep asking shop owners when it will be done.

5. Don’t hijack someone else’s shop.
- Post your services in your own shop and not in someone else's.

6. Be serious about fulfilling requests.
  • If you're going to be absent for a while, state so in your shop.
  • When not responding to requests for more than a month (without stating your absence), your shop will be closed.
7. Don't ask payment for your services.

Art Gallery Archive
The Art Gallery Archive is for threads that have been inactive for more than a year, and art shops that have been closed for more than two months. If your thread or shop ends up in here and you want to continue using it, just ask a Moderator to unarchive the thread for you.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask the moderator of the section: NMLewis

Oops, I just realized almost all of my fanart would possibly contravene Article #5 of the above regulations - being tracings of official artworks. I guess it's too late to ask, but are we still allowed to say, recreate official (or even other people's) artworks with our own pens/paint? Of course, this is assuming we clearly cite the original author.

To put it another way: If Van Gogh was alive today and was a member here, would his Japonaiserie series be okay here?

This is a rather complex question. We have this rule to protect other peoples art, so it gets kinda tricky dragging famous artwork into this.

The Copyright law states that art is protected by the law up until 50-100 years after the artist passes (although this varies from country to country). Van Gogh died in 1890, which means that using his art would be fine, as long as you don't take the credits, of course.

A piece of artwork I submitted was recently removed on grounds of being inappropriate. I don't see a section here that specifically denotes what content is acceptable to post, and what is not. Other than "don't post porn" I don't know where to draw the line. Gore is allowed in spoiler tags, which itself is explicit, so can anyone give me more details?

The literature section allows you to rate content as high as adult. Can visual works be rated this way? I'd like to know ahead of time so I don't make any mistakes.

Thank you! <3

Hey, Incinerawr! :D

Regarding the artwork you had posted, I've got the chance to look at it before it got removed. While there isn't any mention of that kind of content in this specific thread, the OP redirects to the forumwide rules as well, which cite as follows:

12. Don't post offensive or oversexualized images (Inappropriate Content) [10 points, 4 months]
- Don't use pictures that focus on or draw attention to breasts, buttocks and/or crotches (even clothed) as avatars or in your signature.
- Don't use images of partially nude people (in lingerie, in underwear, etc.) as your avatar or signature.
- Don't use imagery associated with hate movements, ideologies or groups (Confederate States, Alt-Right, etc.) as avatars or in your signature.
- Outside of avatars and signatures, excessive or disrespectful use of such images may be considered Inappropriate Content or Abuse and Harassment.
Hence why your picture had to be removed, I'm afraid. :/ Though, don't let that deter you from posting more art. Just try to keep the rules in mind in the future for when you will want to post new content, alright? ^^

Hope to have clarified this detail for you.

Aah, thank you! That clears up a lot. ^w^ I'll be more careful in the future!

Are photos allowed as well as drawings? I have some images I’ve done of my Pokemon Nendoroids I’d like to share.

Do color edits of shiny forms go in this section? I'm fixing to share some shiny edits I made and let others post their own in the same thread, but I'm not sure which section of the forum is most appropriate for such a thread.
