Ash's Alola team

It is a time for Ash to complete the entire types which means chatching Ghost, Steel, and Psychic,. About Fairy we can wait because it the second reigon for this new type, but really I become having feel that it will not catch any pokemon

The final evolution of Rowlet would help give Ash a Ghost type. Alola Sandshew line would give him a Steel type. Not sure about Psychic yet but maybe Bruxish.

Well... ash ALWAYS catches and fully evolves the early route bird. So if he does catch pikipek, it most likely will be the toucan

Changes can be made though. Pre-XYZ, Ash's water-types sans Kingler never evolved. Froakie ended up fully evolving. They could easily break the trend of Ash fully evolving the early route flying-type. I could see him using Pikipek's mid stage until the end of the saga.

Though honestly, I'd like it much more if they gave him another flying-type all together. I'd love to see him with an Oricorio:)

Well agree to disagree. I think pikipek's middle evolution looks really weird, it looks like a stretched out woodpecker. I honestly think the toucan looks the best, as weird as it may seem.

We'll just have to wait and see for ourselves who will Ash catch in Alola, only 18 days remaining for the anime to come

They mostly give Ash water types which can walk on land, mainly because if they arrive in a region without water, that Pokemon will have to go without screentime. So, I think that Popplio/Brionne will be a better option then Bruxish for a water type.
For Ash's ghost type slot, I'd like to see Oricorio Sensu style. And maybe he could get Type:Null late into into the series.

I don't think Ash should catch the water starter if he is going to release it after fully evolving it. Bruxish is part Psychic which could help it levitate in the air. I rather Ash catch a water pokemon that is not a starter than for him to get a water starter which is later released.

How do you know that Brionne/Primarina will be released? I think you're mixing up Greninja and Brionne.

What I am saying is that if Popplio is going to go the same way as Greninja then Ash shouldn't get it. Giving him a fully evolved water starters is a waste of time if they just going to release it.

I still think that Ash should not get any new captures this region, but that just isn't realistic. However, when I look at the trailers, I can't help but think that Ash won't get more than the Electrium Z and possibly Pikachu's Z Crystal for Catastropika. Therefore, it wouldn't make much sense for Ash to catch Pokémon of other types in terms of promotion since the supporting cast could easily take that role.

Then it hit me: What if Ash is going to give being an Electric-type specialist a try for the Alola series? Think about it:
  • He's supposedly travelling with Rotomdex, which is Electric-type in all of its forms.
  • Tapu Koko, an Electric/Fairy type, gave Ash an Electrium Z with his Z-Ring, giving him access to an Electric-type Z-Move.
  • He's chasing after Grubbin, presumably to catch it, and it evolves into a Bug/Electric type.
Not only that, but the rivalry between Ash's Pikachu and Sophocles' Togedemaru could extend between the trainers themselves if Ash starts focusing on Electric-types this region. Given that the games and the Anime are changing a lot of things for Gen 7, having Ash give the type specialist role a try could be a fun new avenue to explore if this school really is for recruiting Trial Captains. Just think of the possibilities!

There's no way Ash would ever become a type specialist. It's basically impossible in the first place what with the whole obligatory starter and early-game bird capture, and on top of that it just generally puts a severe limit on possible captures (people already complain about Ash stacking too many Flyers and Dragons in Kalos). Plus Sophocles is already an Electric specialist so it would just be redundant.

On an unrelated note, it could be wishful thinking but I don't think it's out of the question to see some Oak reserves in Alola. Ash already owns/owned a lot of the Pokemon on the Ride Pager (Tauros, Charizard, Lapras) and it would be pretty awkward seeing him riding on a different specimen of a Pokemon that he already owns. There's also the possibility of Snorlax returning to showcase Pulverizing Pancake. Granted, I wouldn't get my hopes too high up, but with all the changes to the status quo, if there's any saga where it could happen this is probably it.

However, you have to take into account that there's a possibility all of the starters will end up going to the Trail Captians. As for the Sophocles situation, the point is that it would expand the rivalry between Pikachu and Togedemaru to the trainers. So far, this school seems to be for training Trial Captains if being Ash's classmates is any indication. As you know, the Trail Captains also seem to be type specialists, so it would be out of place if Ash wasn't one.

Also, you an't really rely on past patterns for this series, as the Alola region seems to be breaking so many traditions for both the Anime and the games. Plus, Ash didn't get a grass-type in Kalos, so the pattern of ash getting at least one Grass-, Fire-, and Water-type per region has already been broken. I don't expect it to happen, but the setup for such a change is there.

Man, they need to stop showing off so many epic Z-Moves. It just makes me want more different Pokemon for Ash:p

The Psychic and Bug moves both look amazing. Unfortunately I can't really see Ash getting any Pokemon of those types, except maybe Wimpod (but I'd rather he not get that thing), though I think he'd look nice with Pau Oricorio. Even more unfortunate, I don't really think Ash will get any Pokemon that know bug or psychic moves that aren't either of those types:/ But hopefully I'm wrong.

I really hope we get some word on what Ash will be catching soon though. The wait is so agonizing.

I think Ash's oaked Pokemon may return due to Poke-Pelago.

So based on the latest trailer, Rowlet "almost" confirmed for Ash? I also want him to catch Litten and Grubbin.

Ash is definitely going to catch pokemon. Why go to a whole new region full of new pokemon if you are not going to catch any of them? That wouldn't make sense at all.

I just hope Ash leaves the starters to the companions this time. After what happened to Greninja, people might come to the conclusion of the same thing happening with Ash's new starter.

I don't think that Ash will get Litten. Due to its theming on a heel wrestler, I think that it will go to a rival, like Kiawe or if he appears, Gladion.
