ATEE: Partners in Crime *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

Re: ATEE: Work Your Magic *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

"Actually, come to think of it, that's kind of a bad analogy. Homophobes don't tend to go for the 'keep valuables close to the balls; they never check the balls' routine."
"Oh, are you serious?!" Herbert had yet to emerge from the shadows of where he was standing, but it would be clear to anyone looking in his general direction, that he was holding a hand to his temples, mildly distressed at what he had just heard.

Re: ATEE: Work Your Magic *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

Middy inhaled to speak, but Herbert cut him off.
"Don't even! Don't say another word!" He marched militantly across the room and opened a wooden chest at the back. "Here. They're in here. Just take them and get out of my sight. I don't want to hear another word out of you!"

Re: ATEE: Work Your Magic *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

He wasn't being deceitful in the least; the two gems sat, as promised, on top of a pile of other, more obscure treasures.
"...Really? Seriously?" Jane was also struggling to comprehend the situation.

Re: ATEE: Work Your Magic *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

With that, Ellie took the two Emeralds.
"Pleasure doing business with you," she smiled at Herbert, starting out of the room.

Re: ATEE: Work Your Magic *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

Middy frowned slightly.
"I'm not satisfied."
"Tch. Are you queer-folk ever satisfied?" Herbert said, bemusedly.
"Oh, just shut your f*cking mouth..." He turned to leave.
"...I beg your pardon?"
"Herbie, honey, I know you're incredibly closed-minded, but that's no excuse for being outright deaf. I told you to shut the f*ck up."
Jane put a hand on his shoulder.
"Middy, don't..."

Re: ATEE: Work Your Magic *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

"No...No." Middy turned on his heel, and strode right up and into Herbert's personal space. "No. F*ck you."
Herbert was mildly unnerved at first, then took a step back.
"One last chance, you heathen scum. Take the Emeralds and leave, and nobody gets hurt."
"Maybe I want somebody to get hurt."
"You know, it would be perfectly legal for me to kill you where you stand."
"You know, there wouldn't be anyone to punish me if I killed you where you stand."
"...Enough!!" He created a ball of fire on one hand, threatening Middy with it. "You and your kind have been a stain on this country's history for far too long! You will burn for your sins!"
"Mm...Yeah, I don't think so."

After a moment of the two of them holding their positions, a look of disgust emblazoned on Herbert's face, the fireball in his hand dissipated, and it wasn't immediately apparent why until the King let out a quiet, restrained yelp. From the right angle, it would become apparent that Middy had grabbed his wrist with his psychokinesis, and was bending it backwards out of its comfort zone. Herbert tried to continue looking disapproving, but it was apparent that Middy had had enough. There was another break of difficult silence, then there came a strange and painful-sounding not-quite-crunch, and Herbert let out a shriek. Middy had broken his wrist by overexerting it.

Re: ATEE: Work Your Magic *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

"We probably should," Jane said, quite explicitly not doing anything.

Herbert continued to stare at Middy, horrified. Middy seemed to just bask in the moment for a good half-minute or so, then delivered a forceful punch across the King's face, taking him by surprise, causing him to fall backwards. He tried to get to his feet, but, halfway up, Middy stopped him, proceeding to beat him, slowly and steadily augmenting each punch with psychokinesis, each one to a greater degree than the last, not stopping until he had the satisfaction of hearing at least one of Herbert's bones crack.
"People like you don't deserve last words, but I'm not so mean as to deny you them. So, go on, Herbie. I'm sure you have something poetic to share with us."
The King whimpered slightly, already crying from his injuries.
"Middy..." He looked him in the eyes, appealing for mercy. "No...Michael..."
"Oh. So you did your homework. Get to the point."
"Michael, I'm sorry. ...I was wrong. I was wrong about you people. Mistakes were made..."
Middy returned his gaze for a few moments, and nobody in the room knew how he would react to this.

"...Nice try. You're not fooling anyone, Herbie." He struck him across the face one more time, then produced a spear of psychokinetic energy, intent, apparently, on delivering the coup-de-grace, and cast it downwards, not actually impaling Herbert's chest, as the King had been expecting, but rather-- Herbert emitted an ear-splitting scream of pain-- where his legs met.
It took him a moment to regain himself, and then he finally gathered enough breath to say,
"You people...are supposed...to be kind...M-mercy..?"
"I was merciful, you little prick. You're still alive, aren't you?"

"I'm sure they'll find him sooner or later," Middy said, spitting on the King out of contempt, and turning to leave with them.
As they left, Team Triton had the fortune of arriving, leading to a slightly awkward moment in which the three of them were permitted to exchange glances, and look from Middy's bloodied hands, to the wreck of a body on the treasure-room floor behind them, and back to one another. At last, Jonah broke the silence.
"...Rex, this world's version of your dad is a badass!"

Re: ATEE: Work Your Magic *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

"Oh, you're Rex? Well met, I suppose. I haven't seen you in years."
"We've met before?"
"Just the once. Your father invited me over to meet you when you were a few weeks old. He was quite proud of you, you know."
"...So proud of his son that he invited himself from a parallel universe over just to show me off?" Rex fell silent. Something in his thought patterns had changed, it seemed.
"That reminds me...Today's the 17th, right? Well, then, happy birthday, son-from-a-parallel-universe. Shame your father's straight, but if you're the alternative, it can't be all bad in his world."
"Wait, what--?"
"Happy birthday, Rex. Oh, and tell your father I said hi."

Re: ATEE: Work Your Magic *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

"Right. But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. You guys are done collecting the Emeralds, right? That's why you're back here?"
Jonah nodded, handing over the three Emeralds they had obtained. Middy took them, nodded, and threw them back into the treasure-room, along with the four Team Poseidon had accrued, then shut the door behind him.
"Ellie, if you wouldn't mind locking up, Jane and I will be escorting these three back to the thingy-chamber with the door."

Re: ATEE: Work Your Magic *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

As they headed back to the room that Middy had oh-so-eloquently dubbed 'the thingy-room with the door', Jane looked as if she were about to say something, but never actually got to speaking what was on her mind.
"Sorry we had to call you out to our world on such short notice," Middy was saying to Team Triton, "but we figured you'd be our best hope. Your world's counterpart of my team isn't exactly available for the task. I mean, my counterpart might be (and I totally wouldn't object to seeing him again), but your father--" He gestured at Cal. "--is probably too busy being an actual decent ruler of his country, and as for Jane's counterpart...Well, I can't account for him. He's somewhat of an enigma. A lazy, yet undeniably handsome enigma..." He cleared his throat. "Anyway, yes, this world is kinda grateful for your help, and stuff."
