ATEE: Partners in Crime *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

Re: ATEE: Rockefeller Street *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

"That was excellent!" Jonah shouted, though he was drowned out by the cheers of the audience around them. The screens tracked the views of the cameras that were following Muse from their seat in the green room to the stage, for the final reprise of the winning song. Miles and Robert were both proudly waving Blazian flags which, upon reaching the stage, they discarded into the audience for two lucky viewers to claim. All went dark, and the screens began to show the visual display that accompanied the winning song, Undisclosed Desires.

Meanwhile, Clint was sat in a jail cell in Bistra Voda's central police station, watching the coverage of the contest on the one TV in the room. As the production credits began to roll over Muse's performance, Cairne came into the room, bringing with him a quartet of short figures.
"Clint," Cairne said, to get his attention. "You've got visitors." Saying no more, he ushered the four of them into Clint's cell, then left them be.
One of them- the one earlier identified as Casino, shook his head in disappointment. "Clint, you've really let us down. And to think, a poisons-expert like you could be such a letdown..."
"...Everyone's a critic," Clint murmured.
"Now, Casino...Let's not forget that it was your idea to hire this loser in the first place," a female member of the group reprimanded. "Perhaps if we had just done things my way in the first place, we would have succeeded in our...enterprise. On top of that, we wouldn't have had to spent so much money."
"Fine, then, Östra!" Casino declared, growing frustrated. "Let's do it your way, so I can laugh when your plan backfires horribly!"
Östra raised her chin a little so she looked down her nose at Casino. "Challenge accepted, my friend."

ATEE: The Living Doll *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

~The Living Doll~

Peeking into the garage, Travis found his father working on a laser sword of his.
“Hey Dad,” he asked, “where's Mom?”
“Out,” Leonel replied, not looking up from his work. “She's probably getting something for Jeane.”
Jeane was a vixen, and Travis' younger sister, by about eight or so years. Travis heard a door open at that moment. That's probably Mom right now, Travis thought.

Re: ATEE: The Living Doll *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

It was, indeed, his mother, Carol, returning from wherever she had just been. It seemed that she had bought- or otherwise somehow acquired- a toy of some description, most presumably for Jeane, if what Leonel had said was anything to go by.

Re: ATEE: The Living Doll *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

"It's just a little doll I picked up for Jeane," she told him, showing him the doll in question. Perhaps Carol could not see this, but it seemed to have a rather unsettling aspect to its appearance that, at present, was impossible to define.

Re: ATEE: The Living Doll *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

Carol gave a sympathetic smile.
"It might be a little old, but it doesn't look that bad."

Re: ATEE: The Living Doll *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

Leonel appeared at that point.
"Ah… so that's the doll you got for Jeane?" He took the doll from Carol. "Heh… kinda reminds me of one of our old friends."

Re: ATEE: The Living Doll *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

"Coming, Daddy!" Jeane called from somewhere, shortly before hurrying to meet them. "What is it? What have you got for me, Mommy?"
Carol smiled again, and handed her the doll. "Just a little something."

Re: ATEE: The Living Doll *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

At present, nothing would suggest it served any purpose other than decoration.
"It looks weird," Jeane said in a kind of voice suiting a spoilt critic. "But I like it anyway."

Re: ATEE: The Living Doll *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

"I thought you would," Carol added.
Jeane realised her mother was expecting a response other than what she had said already.
"...Thank you, Mommy."

Re: ATEE: The Living Doll *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

At that point, outside of Carol and Jeane's attention, the doll cast Leonel (and, by extension, Travis) an unsettlingly creepy smile, having apparently moved its head to do so all of its own volition- or just by a strange coincidence of how Jeane was holding it.

Re: ATEE: The Living Doll *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

At their second glance, its face had returned to a neutral, placid expression, and it had resumed hanging limply in Jeane's arms.
"Something the matter?" Carol asked.
"Jealous?" Jeane suggested of Travis, giving a smug, satisfied smile.
