ATEE: Partners in Crime *Me (That Guy) and Alex64*

She afforded her not even an inch, refusing to slow down or redirect herself. Instead, she used her fire-spell to charge the head of her hammer with a burning aura of flames, and tore through the shards, her weapon leading the way.

Before the attack could connect, it would meet a bolt of Megan's own. Evidently, she had wasted no time from the moment Mary had hit the floor; she had expected this sort of move.
"And there's pro-tip #2: Don't forget your compassion, but don't let it become a weakness-- not even for a second."

Despite staring down a literal embodiment of death, Megan remained unfazed.
"And then there's the most important one of all, pro-tip #3..."
She pulled back, then launched her hammer spinning through the air, and into the mouth of the oncoming skull-entity, wedging itself in its mouth and locking its jaw, appearing to jam the energy-ball.
"...There are no rules."

Without missing a beat, Megan jumped to reclaim her hammer, grabbing it firmly by the handle almost as if choreographed by divine intervention, then adjusted her angle to swing down through the smoke the skull had left behind.

She managed to strike Mary squarely in the face, flipping her backwards onto her front. As she picked herself up, ignoring her freshly bloodied lip, she suddenly shot a blast of fire at Megan.

Shamelessly copying Mary's strategy from before, Megan summoned a modest wall of ice to protect her, then cast it right back at her assailant when the fire was spent.

She dodged back, bringing up her hammer to block just a moment too late. Okay, so this wasn't going as flawlessly as she'd hoped, all of a sudden, but, hey, that was a pretty solid start...
Her resolve reconstituted, she prepared to charge up another spell, knowing she probably wouldn't have time to complete it.

She retained one hand to try and hold on to the hammer, while the other prepared a much quicker, much more crude lightning spell to try and keep her away. Sure, she wouldn't be completely helpless without the hammer, but it would be a damn sight more helpful in her hands than lying halfway across the battlefield...or whatever this was.

This would work for a moment... until Mary gained a red aura, and forcefully wrested the hammer from her grip, throwing it quite a ways away.

She cursed to herself, readying another fire-spell as she tried to formulate the most efficient way of retrieving her hammer. For now...no, all she could muster was the notion to keep improvising.

Inspiration struck, but Mary struck first. Megan staggered back, but turned this stance into a means of launching herself right back at her, propelling her own first, now ablaze with that fire-spell, at extra speed towards her assailant.

This would be met with a block, charged with flames. The fight was, Megan thought, relieved, getting rather predictable at this point, but if it gave her anything resembling an advantage, she wasn't about to complain. She forced her way forwards, preparing to strike with her right elbow.
