Bad Ad Reporting Thread

Expanders are not generally objectionable (unless they're really covering far too much of the screen). They shouldn't appear for mobile browsers, but if that happens let us know. We're going to introduce a mobile skin later this year without that particular ad code, but the ads are supposed to be smart enough to not show up then.

This expanding ad features expletive, though censored language, which nonetheless I feel is inappropriate, especially given that the intention of the word is obvious. I did not manage to get a link, but here is a screen shot.

I was unable to get a screen capture but I got the link to another disruptive ad. It was one of those ads that talk to you and pop up out of nowhere
This is the link: Colgate Total

This ad:

Link.

From this site, doesn't exactly say "Family friendly Pokémon site".

(sorry for off topic, and possible bump)

that kinda looked like facesmash or w/e the site Marky Zucky did before Facey Booky.

I'll report here what I already reported on Bulbapedia's talk page (click here if the talk page gets archived in the meantime you come across this).

  • I was on my iPhone 3G with iOS 4.2.1;
  • I opened Mobile Safari and directed it to Bulbapedia's main page;
  • Also, before I fired up Mobile Safari, I had wiped out all of the local history, list of cookies and cache, if it matters;
  • I don't remember seeing anything odd or tapping anything on the screen by accident (but it could've happened);
  • I suddenly get redirected multiple times through the ad network until I reach this pornographic site;
  • I'm 19 so I don't have anything against adult-themed content; however, I demand an explanation for this suspicious behavior that led me there to begin with.

What gives, /bmgf/?
You're the first person who's ever reported anything like this. We'll do what we can to investigate it. The ads displayed to mobile phones and tablets differ to the regular ad networks shown to regular browsers, so with any luck that may make it a little easier to track down. If you have the URL's it redirected you through (which should hopefully be in your iPhone's browser history), then that will assist greatly.

I found a couple of things today...

First, I was on the Main Page and after awhile it changed to this: http://http://bestprizedraw.com/d/j4u2i16147?r=http%3A%2F%2Fgjetefa.info%2Fin.php%3Fq%3DG%2FCHhFfgw9UoPTotBLg5uSk36%2Bt2OSWUy4x9UETZww%3D%3D

Second, I found an ad that was something about "dress-up for grown-ups." Unfortunately, I accidentally went off the page before I could screenshot it or get a link from it. My browser also displayed the message "Firefox has blocked a pop-up window." I may be wrong, but Bulbapedia doesn't have pop-up window ads, right?

Someone's hotlinking to Pokejungle, eh? It that was a wiki page, it could be easily fixed if you post the link.

On pedia not that long ago a condom ad for Skyn or something like that popped up.

As stated in the site notice, there are currently some rouge ads in the ad service we use. This was done without our knowledge and it is affecting a number of large websites including twitpic. Sorry guys and girls, we are doing our best to resolve the.issue

I'm starting to get malware warning messages when I try to go to certain pages on Bulbapedia. I know that at least on the Ground (type) page, there seems to be something from cm.netseer.com lurking in there.
