'Battle & Get! Pokémon Typing DS!' announced: Game to teach typing skills

We've had one technically, back in '04. Valusoft made "Pokemon PC Master". Seems like a fun game too.

Huh. Never knew there's an English Pokemon typing game.

Anyway, it's interesting that the DS is used as the system of choice for a Japanese typing game, and not the PC, but I suppose the DS's popular to ignore it.

Putting it on the PC over the DS actually makes less sense to me. Nintendo owns the Pokemon brand and the DS brand. They don't get anything for putting it on the PC. Nintendo doesn't do PC games or software.

Hold on, one question before anything else.

How on earth do you type with a Nintendo DS?

Besides that, I like the idea. Although, wouldn't it get just a bit boring typing a preset list of 649 words? There should definitely be some other exercises on there.

And yes, Dogasu is correct. The point of the game is not to type the romanizations - that's entirely useless for anything that isn't Pokémon.

A mini keyboard is packaged with the game.

Well, that explains a lot.

You know what would be interesting (and probably implemented)? Typing battles.

You have to type, say, "taiatari" in less than 3.2 seconds, and the attack's power depends on how quickly you type the word. On "Master" mode (with a goal of 80~90 WPM), you'd have to type it in less than 0.8 seconds.
