Munrö opened the door a little way, not enough for Nick to get out, and put his face up to it. "Boo!" he said, not trying to be startling, but simply saying it as a parody of traditional child games.
"Heh, yeah. I hope nothing happens though." Faere said. Then her face went blank, and she stood up, knowing she had effectively jinxed their good luck. She ran off back towards the house.
Sin heard running footsteps heading toward them, and looked up from where she was. She couldn't quite see its source, but it sounded like it could be Fae, looking for them, or something similar.
"Oh, come here!" He opened the door completely and scooped Nick up. "They've all gone out into the woods. It's too dangerous for you to go, though." He left the room with Nick, closing the door and abandoning Terri to whatever she was dreaming of in the returning darkness of the room.
"I like you, Nick. Your hair is so cool, and your sister just looks boring, even with that stone around her neck."
Faere burst through the front door of the house. She bolted to her room, seeing Munrö holding Nick. Without a word, she took Nick from Munrö, and went into her room.
"Get in here!" she yelled at Munrö, placing Nick back into the cot with Terri.
“Pi! Pichu pi, chu!” (“Thanks! You look cool, too!”) The creature did look cool, sort of like a mix between the dinosaur and the penguin. Before it could reply, Nick was scooped out of the creature's arms, and put back in the cot. “Pichu pi chu?” (“What did I do?”)
The footsteps passed by without anyone appearing, so Sin lay back down, and fell asleep, and her husband followed suit.
Munrö whimpered as Nick was grabbed from him, and hesitated before going into the room as Fae instructed. Her sudden paranoia was scaring him greatly, and he was worried she might had hurt Nick's comparatively weak body with her rough movements in snatching him from Munrö and shaking him as she ran into the room, as a byproduct of running.
I ran down the hall and seeing Faere's door open, I attempted to stop, but the floor was very smooth, and so I fell on my face. I then heard Nick laughing. Wonderful, I thought.
Munrö flinched, half-expecting to be attacked, or to pass out and be trapped in a nightmare, or who knows what.
"Where are the other three?" he asked suddenly, opening one eye.
“Someone needs to replace the floorboards with some sod,” I replied, and got up, making sure nothing was broken by my faceplant. Meanwhile, I heard Nick say “Chu pi.” (“Smooth one.”)
