@Gotpika, why you had to put a rant about writers not caring about older fans?
We know that the franchise is directed to children and teens. And the anime has a lower target audience than the games, specially outside Japan.
It's true that the anime targets to children but:
I think that in Japan the older fanbase is higher than in the rest of the world. They are airing the series for a 5% of people that watch TV in TV Tokyo (a standard channel) at one hour where I see many older people watching, specially in Japan. To be more precise, in USA we can said that the anime is watched by kids with some exceptions but in Japan it could be less clear.
We don't know long rants about the target demographic of the show.
And merchandise and ratings aren't selling that well that you think. Rememeber that the series is getting too gimmicky.
Sorry, but I don't like this too much. Why? Because I don't see battles in any place of the summary. Episode N is understandable because it's a different type of history but I don't like an OI redux with the "fun" (the gyms). The only parts who I look forward is the first appeareance of Jirachi and the possibility of Sylveon in the July episode.
I clearly have preferred a PWT arc, a Contest in "Best Wishes", a combination of the two, an alternate tournament and/or continous older character's cameo, specially of Brock and although I will have doubted it, Misty (because the Kanto nostalgia right now).
I expect (and really want) that this series last until July and they decide to do a) a tournament in Kanto or b) airing XY anime early.
And a last thing that you aren't going to like: that confirms that Burgundy and Georgia's departure is the Junior Cup. If the Junior Cup was supposed to be the farewell, it's bad written to the finest.
