Summer. The time of freedom. The time of having a large chance to play Pokemon all day. Why not have a big tournament that may take all summer?
That’s where the Big. Summer. Tourney. comes in. Starting May 31, a tournament unlike any other will begin. 4 Rounds, all leading up to a final showdown of the masters of each cup. So what are the cups you ask?
Ubers Cup - Set of Ubers battles. A quick tournament using Smogon’s Uber rules which just are:
Endless Battle Clause: Any moveset on any Pokémon that is capable of intentionally causing an endless battle is banned from competitive play. Thus:
A Pokémon may not carry Recycle and hold a Leppa Berry in conjunction with Heal Pulse and Milk Drink, Moonlight, Morning Sun, Recover, Roost, Slack Off, Soft-Boiled, or Wish.
A Pokémon may not hold a Leppa Berry and carry Recycle and Pain Split on its moveset.
A Pokémon may not hold a Leppa Berry and carry Recycle and Fling on its moveset.
Moody Clause: Pokémon with the ability Moody are not permitted.
OHKO Clause: A Pokemon may not have the moves Fissure, Guillotine, Horn Drill, or Sheer Cold in its moveset.
Sleep Clause: Only one Pokémon may be put to sleep on the opposing team at a time, if not induced by a move such as Rest.
Species Clause: Players cannot have two Pokémon with the same Pokédex number on the same team.
Pokémon may be up to level 100.
OU Cup - Set of OU battles. A quick tournament using Smogon’s OU rules which are the rules above along with:
Evasion Clause: The moves Double Team and Minimize, in addition to the abilities Sand Veil and Snow Cloak, are not permitted in play.
Banned Pokemon: Arceus, Blaziken, Darkrai, Deoxys, Deoxys-A, Dialga, Genesect, Giratina, Giratina-O, Groudon, Ho-Oh, Kyogre, Kyurem-W, Lugia, Mewtwo, Palkia, Rayquaza, Reshiram, Shaymin-S, Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zekrom
Banned Items: Gengarite, Kangaskhanite, and Lucarionite
Banned Moves: Swagger
VGC Cup - Set of VGC Doubles battles. A quick tournament using Nintendo’s rules for the upcoming VGC tournament.
3v3 Monotype Cup - Set of 3v3 Monotype battles. Must follow Smogon’s OU rules listed above. Each type will only be used once.
Tournament Rules
1. Follow the rules listed above for each cup.
2. Do not Counter team.
3. Every player will have 3 pre-selected opponents for each Cup.
4. All battles, bar the VGC Cup and 3v3 Monotype Cup will take place on Pokemon Showdown.
5. Players must submit either the Video Code or Showdown link for the battle replays. During the week break in between cups, players will choose between a final 4 battle clips that will be shown on my youtube channel, TerraTF, as well as the BBL Youtube channel.
6. Cup rules may change without prior notice. If your team does not fit the newer criteria, you must change it immediately. Cup Rule changes will not affect any previous point gains.
Now how exactly will the tournament work?
The Big. Summer. Tourney. will run on a points system, which is as follows:
Win a battle: 3 Points
Lose a battle: 1 Point
Guess a Cups winners(50%): Double points
Guess a Cups winners(100%): Triple points
Vote for a Battle Video: 1 points
Not completing a battle: -1 point
Now time for the Tournament Schedule:
June 1st through June 14 - The Ubers Cup
June 15 through June 21 - Break 1
June 22 through July 5 - The OU Cup
July 6 through July 12 - Break 2
July 13 through July 19 - The VGC Cup
July 20 through July 26 - The 3v3 Monotype Cup
August 1 through August 5 - Final Tourney Round 1
August 6 through August 10 - Final Tourney Semi-Finals
August 11 through August 15 - Final Tourney Finals
The Top 2 Players from each cup will earn a spot in the Final Tourney. If one player has already finished in the Final 2 of a previous cup, the next player until we have a full 2 will be selected, and so on and so forth. The final Tourney will be a bout of the 8 most round players in the BBC. The more points you accrued across all 4 cups means the higher your seed. The top 2 players will receive a free of charge order of 2 Pokemon maximum from my own Breeding Shop.
