"So I still have my apartment from where you picked me up, Juliet," Bria suggested, "It's much easier than where they want to place us. My apartment has hot water still, probably wifi since I paid it in a giant yearly sum, and all we'd need is food. Plus, electricity and we won't get mugged."

"You live in Estelar?" Kai asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Why do you gotta ruin my fun," Sakura frowned. 'Seriously, you guys have gone up against city destroying bad guys, a few nights in a shitty apartment isn't going to kill you."

"That's where you're wrong." Mordic deadpanned, discreetly gesturing to Juliet with her crimson eyes.

Juliet just nodded in agreement. "Mom you can't put a princess up in a hovel. It just doesn't work." She mused.

"YOu're not a princess though," Sakura pointed out dryly.

"What about becoming more humble and stuff?" Liza asked with a slight pout as she glanced at Juliet.

"You thought she'd actually follow through on that?" Ammy muttered to Liza with a raised eyebrow behind the cybernetic suit.

"To be fair, I'm gonna have to pack my stuff out of it anyways," Bria shrugged, "So, why not just enjoy a few nights in it before I have to say goodbye to it for good?"

"I mean we could always just stay at Bria's place, it's better than a shitty apartment," Kai suggested with a shrug as he glanced at Juliet then back at Sakura. 'I don't usually care but this time I do agree with Juliet that we kind of should try to find a better place."

"Then it's settled," Ant said. "Bria's apartment it is."

Rick glanced over at Juliet. "You really are a spoiled brat. You know that right?"

Juliet just smirked. "Amazing the things I can pull isn't it." She mused.

"You really should use those powers for good." Rick retorted. "And would it really kill you to..."

"Dead rat in my bedroom. Where I sleep Rick!" Juliet shouted at him.

Point taken. Turns out living in substandard accomadations would actually kill her. He recalled how the one time they'd made her fly coach she'd almost had a breakdown and started killing noisy children. Rick rolled his eyes.

How could a girl like her be so sheltered. Her mother always seemed down to earth. Of course. Her father. Typical. Daddy's little girl. For the first time in awhile Rick remembered how monstrous Juliet could be. Warping people's minds and twisting them to her will. Charm and beauty and wit and intelligence... those weapons scared him more then a blade or a gun ever could.

"As I said, it was dead," Hazel again tried to insist. "Wasn't going anywhere."

Rick chuckled. "I know, imagine if she'd had to deal with live rats by the dozen like I did growing up. Crawling and biting and scratching."

Juliet shuddered. "That doesn't make it better. Either of you." She said to Rick and Hazel. Clearly she wasn't amused.

Unsurprisingly, Nova remained silent while the group predictably turned to bickering. That gave him time to think.

"At least you've never had to see Klay eating a rat," Sakura pointed out in a low voice.

"Well, at least now we don't have to deal with a rat problem that might cause Juliet to either die from a heart attack or blow the city up," Kai pointed out. 'Like, we already are going to do that ourselves most likely, we might as well not do it as soon as we get there."

"Well I dont' mind," Liza smiled as she leaned back. "I'm sure we'll be fine, right Nova?"

Rick nodded at Sakura's remark. "You know, fried rat isn't half bad."

Juliet looked like she was going to vomit.

Nova was pulled from his thoughts when Liza spoke to him. "Hm? Oh. Sure."

"Good thing Juliet didn't go in the catacombs," Hazel muttered with amusement.

"Speaking of, there's actually something I wanted to talk to you about," She added as she stared at Nova. "I need your help with something."

"I think it's best if we hurry, pack and go now," Bria commented. She seemed unusually anxious about it.

"Hm?" Nova responded to Liza.

--

Still, he was very much in his thoughts.

He found himself standing in what seemed to be the old KV cafe. That alone told him that what he was seeing wasn't real.

Still, the details were perfect. He'd memorized where everything was in the guild's main base - as he should have, considering he placed it there.

He lifted up one of the cups on the table, only for it to start floating into the air.

The gentle tap of a coffee mug being set on the table caught his attention, the source being a person sitting at the bar. A male. A very, very familiar one.

"Kai?" Nova asked in confusion.

"Not quite," said 'Kai', drinking some coffee. "Though, it's nice to see you, either way."

Nova crossed his arms. "How can you be 'not quite' Kai?" Still, this Kai had some crazy hair going on.

"Same as how everything else in your life isn't cut and dry, Kiran," he said with a smile. Not a typical, Kai-like smirk, but a smile. It radiated understanding and condescension.

This was definitely not Kai.

Suddenly, he became acutely aware of whom he was speaking to. "Why are you here, Magog...?"

Kai's smile widened into a grin. "So perceptive, Kiran."

"Why are you-"

Magog-Kai intercepted his message. "Why am I taking the shape of Kai? Little Kai? One pea short of a full pod Kai?" Then, he took another swig of his coffee. "I'm just following the Knight's Void's patented method of dealing with your problems: projecting onto others."
