"Well, I wanted to see if you could teach me how to make cookies," Liza pointed out. "I'm not really much of a cook but I've always been curious you see."

"Inspired by Juliet I see," Kai chuckled as he glanced towards Bria. 'Don't worry Bria, we'll help you move regardless of when we get there."

"Tired, huh?" Hazel asked Nova. Ever since the last... incident, she had been a little on edge.

"Why the rush?" Ant asked Bria.

Juliet noticed something was wrong with Nova. Something had been off with him for weeks. It was hard for her to keep her promise about never invading his mind. She could help, she could fix him. It was well within her abilities. She took a deep breath. Juliet knew that she could never do that. Her parents had warned her that it was a road she should never go down because she couldn't turn around once she did it. Sighing, she steeled herself. He would tell her when he was ready. She simply hoped the secret was something she could bear.

"Ah... yes," Nova said in response to both Hazel and Liza.

--

"You're wondering why I'm here," Magog-Kai continued. "Or rather, why I'm here with you with."

Nova didn't answer him.

"It's simple. You let me in, so I wanted to talk to you. We haven't chatted in a while, you know?" Magog put on a mockingly sad face. "Sort of like how you treat Kai, you know?"

He didn't want to be lectured by some demonic entity, nor did he want those words to stick. Still, he was, and they did.

"But, that changes today. No, see, I think our relationship is just a bit... rocky? Yeah, rocky," Magog said, standing up. "Nova, I want us to talk more. You know, like 'bros'."

Then, Magog's eyes became more demonic, mirroring Kai's Limit Break. "Even if I have to break you to do it."

He was terrified of what this thing could possibly do to him.

"Don't worry. It's pretty much exactly what Juliet's doing to you," Magog said. "So, you should be used to it, yes? Someone taking advantage of your feelings? Of your kindness? She does it everyday, you know."

He tried to block Magog out.

It didn't work.

"Just like Hazel, and Kai, and Liza. All of them," Magog-Kai held up the mug. "They like you now, yes. But, wait until they all become preoccupied with each other. They'll leave you. Juliet's broken your trust before, what makes you think she's actually changed."

His eyes never left Nova's. "You'll grow weaker and weaker. Day after day. Then, suddenly, you'll be of no use to them. You'll be..." Magog then threw the mug, the glass and porcelain breaking on the wall beside him. "Broken. And useless. And they will cast you aside."

He tried again to block Magog out.

"Better to let them go, now, Kiran."

Liza looked at Nova quizzically, he seemed off, though she figured he was probably just tired. "Anyways, we should leave tomorrow like Aunt Sakura said," Kai said towards Bria. "Let's just enjoy one more day of rest while we can, that way everyone can be ready for tomorrow,' he reassured as he stood up. He still couldn't shake the odd feeling he had, like things were somehow still not as good as they seemed.

Hazel uneasily glanced over at Nova. If one more alarming response came from him, she'd take action. He... could just be tired, afterall.

"I can't explain," Bria answered, "If he finds out I'm here..." she felt herself growing more anxious."

"Is she okay?" Kari asked.

Rick raised an eyebrow. Who was he? Frowning, he sighed. Almost everyone in the guild seemed off and he didn't know why. He'd have to keep a careful eye on his surroundings. Constant vigilance.

Ant asked what everyone was thinking. "Who's he?" he questioned.

Literally no one in this guild has lived a semi-normal life, Ammy mentally mused to herself. Juliet, being a psychic, would be able to hear her. Still juggling her trio of shurikens with one armored hand, she retreated into the kitchen.

Juliet was pulled out of her thoughts by Ammy's broadcasted ones. What is normal anyways? Juliet asked her telepathically. You who lived through things nobody should... your brother who lives and dies by the blade, who took out the yakuza by himself because he was pissed off... me who ran away from home and practically ran Neo Vegas before she turned eighteen... Juliet barely restrained herself from chuckling. Indeed Ammy was right, nobody in Knight's Void was normal. Normal isn't what its cracked up to be anyways. I'd rather transcend that. Go beyond the limits of the human condition. Eternity. Omniscience. That's what I'm interested in.

Normal is growing up with parents, having a fulfilling childhood, going to school and getting a career. This guild is just filled with heathens, you know? Ammy couldn't resist a chuckle at that. Well, of course you do. You're the kind of person that can't be satisfied with life's standards as they are. It's in your nature, after all.

And you think this is the kind of career that most parents want for their children. Hunting and fighting and killing. My dad wanted me to be an actress or a pop star or an English professor. Juliet popped into the kitchen to talk to Ammy, even if they were still speaking telepathically. And it is in my nature. As you and Liza said, I'm trying to temper the more... sinful... parts of my nature for Nova's sake. But I will always try to push the limits. That's the only way to achieve true perfection.

You know, I never really knew what our parents wanted for Rick and I... I haven't even seen them in twelve years. Probably nothing like this. Another mirthless chuckle. Maybe as bodyguards for royalty. That's always what Mom would tell us, that it was the kind of job fit for shinobi. She paused in her telepathic speech, taking a small bottle of sake from the fridge. She'd probably be disappointed in what I've become.

Juliet shook her head. She spoke out loud now. "Your mother would be so proud of you both." She said this with a gentle smile. "Of that I have no doubt." Juliet knew not to mention their father from her time in Rick's mind. "And I'm sure your parents would like Liza... what they would think about Mordic remains to be seen..." She chuckled.

She shook her head with a bitter smile under her cybernetic suit. "Who would be proud of someone that lost an arm? Someone that lost everything at seven years old?" She took off the cybernetic helmet, drinking some of the sake. "The scars are still here, Juliet. Nothing will make them magically go away." Her expression was unreadable, almost empty. The intricate network of scars was visible even on her throat, crawling up her mandible. She cast her mismatched gaze out the window, stifling a sigh.

Juliet leaned over and gently kissed Ammy on the forehead. Unlike the case with Hazel where the kiss was born out of drunken lust, this was a case of sisterly affection. More importantly, Juliet was coming to understand something about her own scar that even Nova hadn't been able to get across. The scar didn't mar her, rather it was just another small part of what made her unique. "Your scars are superficial... nothing more than signs of your past." She said quietly. "Your mother would understand that. A mother's love is something that transcends time and space." Juliet smiled sadly. Another thing she'd taken for granted in the past. "Nothing will make them go away, you're right. But they also don't subtract in any way from who you are."

"Did she... Did she really die loving me?" She muttered, mostly to herself, draining the rest of the sake. Perhaps surprisingly, she could hold her liquor better than Juliet could. She seemed completely unaffected by the extremely alcoholic drink.

Liza had gotten off from the sofa, she thought maybe getting some snacks for everyone would help in relaxing them a little. She could hear Juliet and Ammy's talk as she made her way to the kitchen. Standing against the wall as she listened in just as the two started to actually talk. It seemed like something had come before what she heard but she wasn't sure what it was, regardless a smile crossed her face at hearing Juliet's words. "See, you can do it if you try," she muttered ,partly at Juliet and partly at herself for what happened the other day.

Juliet heard Liza but she didn't comment on what the girl said, except to smile in her direction. Juliet knew that Liza would get the message. "I have no doubt of that. She died loving you. Just as you love her. And just how Rick loves you." She promised her in quiet, soothing tones.
