By using the ground below her on the platform, she swiftly flicked her wrists back, causing the ground to act as a catapult of sorts. It flung her back and off of the platform, just barely in time. It was noticeable that she was avoiding any kind of offensive attack.

Ant couldn't help but laugh at this. "What, didn't you know that makeup is a good look for me?"

"Oh!" the voice in Nova's mind exclaimed. "Losing it so soon? Age doesn't necessarily mean wisdom. Interesting."

Rick chuckled at this. It was a clever trick. "Come on Hazel, you can hit me." He told her with a grin, not knowing the state she was in. He chased after her, leaping forward and attacking more aggressively now, slashing with both blades at her arms and legs rapidly.

As a reflex, Hazel immediately surrounded herself in fire. It... despite her own wishes, was hotter than intended.

Rick's attacks were quickly blunted by the flames. He retreated. Rick frowned. He could feel burns on his arms. He'd have to get them checked out after the battle. And then a thought occurred to him. Hazel probably just forgot that he didn't have his armor on. If he'd been armored, the heat would have been no problem. He sent her a reassuring smile. "Nothing a little aloe can't fix." Rick was still in good spirits.

"Stop..." Nova said to the voice.

Ruffus continued his onslaught, swinging his fists faster to try and hit Nova. This time, more connected, each hitting his armor. He was sent reeling back slightly, but recovered himself.

Of course, Ruffus was feeling a bit proud. Thus, he continued his onslaught almost uncontested, knocking Nova down to one knee.

"I think it looks better on me," Bria replied with a small smile as she pulled away from his chest. Yup. Her lipstick and mascara was the star of Ant's shirt. A rather fetching design if one had no sense of artistic style.

Hazel froze. "Oh God, I'm so sorry!" she exclaimed, extinguishing the flames immediately. "I didn't expect it to be so..." she trailed off, obviously conflicted. Magog was certainly up to something with this. Caution would need to be taken.

"Stylish," Ant simply quipped.

The voice in Nova's head let out a loud laugh. "Yo, man! Pathetic! It kinda makes me look like a chump you know? Killed by you, some metal plated piece of clay. You can barely stay up. I'm embarrassed..."

Rick smiled. "It's fine, it's fine. If I'd been wearing my armor, it wouldn't have even done a thing." He explained with a carefree tone. He was more cautious as he approached now, he wanted Hazel to strike so he could counter.

If Juliet knew what was going on in the tournament, she wouldn't be so happy. But she didnt, and so she was positively cheerful. Once the first batch of assignments had gone out and she hadn't gotten one, she'd made her way back to her dad's library once again. She was surprised he hadn't caught her yet, but he had mentioned that he was working on some really secret stuff with her aunt. Singing to herself, Juliet was sipping a latte she had freshly brewed as she continued to read about domination and mind control from supernatural sources. It didn't get her down because she knew that she had the skill and the will and the intellect to help her friends. And she was close to a breakthrough, another day or two of heavy reading and practical experimentation at the most. It was all going to be okay.

"Most definitely," Bria remarked, "It's so beautiful, you should never wash this shirt again."

Rick sighed. He was worried that Hazel feared she had hurt him and wouldn't try to attack him. He considered his options, it was probably best for him to end the fight quickly so he could talk to Hazel and reassure her that he was fine and didn't hold the least bit of a grudge over it. So he simply charged through the water and leaped at her, attempting to slice a quick wound into her left arm with his blades.

Magog's essence began to spin around Hazel faster. Rick's image would take the image of Cora and Eve. Cora was preparing to perform that same heinous act of filicide on her sister. Magog was projecting that image to Hazel, using every sensory possible to elicit the realness of it.

"HAZEL, PLEASE!!" Eve yelled. "HELP ME!"

Cora was poised to kill her again.

"HELP ME, PLEASE!!" Her younger sister was crying out loudly, reaching for Hazel.

It worked. Hazel flinched slightly. It stung, but nothing too bad. "You got m..." she began to say, expecting the fight to end as well. However, everything deteriorated within seconds. Magog's illusions hit hard, and this changed everything.

She then began to stare at Rick in pure horror and disgust, truly believing that he was Cora. There was a moment of pause, however. But after that, the young woman began to panic. A switch went off. This was noticeable.

"You..." she bitterly spat. All control of her mind felt locked away. "Get away from her! You fucking monster!" she practically screamed, lifting her hand in preparation to shock her target. She had no idea what she was doing. She couldn't stop herself; Magog was growing too powerful.

Rick hadn't expected to get Hazel with his attack. He pulled back when she started to speak to him. He was smiling, she had been a tough foe as expected. "It was good, I en..." Rick was cut off. Everything changed. There was a look in Hazel's eyes. Something was horribly wrong. Hearing her scream at him, calling him a monster. Rick stepped back, Hazel was clearly not right. He quickly sheathed his blades and held up his hands. "Hazel, please... Zel... it's me. Rick." He said softly, talking in a soothing tone as one would try to calm down a wounded animal. "Hazel please calm down..." He pleaded.

"Ant," Bria spoke seriously, "You have no idea how much this means to me. I...I want to help you take him down, if you're okay with it. I can't allow that monster to control me anymore. He can't win."

Killed by you.

Those words sliced through him cleanly. He went silent inside of his helmet.

Ruffus walked over, picking Nova up by his neck. "Come on, get up. Show me your face."

And that he did. When his helmet dropped, what Ruffus saw wasn't a man. No, all he could see was a bright light - so bright it immediately blinded him, causing him to scream in pain.

Nova's hand reached out, only for Ruffus' skin to start boiling. The man continued to roil, and he let out what was possibly one of the most horrifying screams a human being could emit. His skin began to blacken and he tried to escape Nova's radiance.

He didn't. His body began to flay, then burn to char and cinders. Nova touched his head, trying to reach him. To apologize. All it did was burn his flesh faster, leaving his skull exposed.

When his body fell, Nova backed away. "No..."

His power dwindled, leaving his face normal once more. A look of barely restrained horror crossed it. "I... I... Oh god. Oh god..."

He scrambled over to the man's corpse. "No, no, you're fine, it's fine! It's okay. Y-you're just hurt. You'll be okay, okay?" He said, holding Ruffus' boiled hand. "I-I have a friend, he-he can fix this. Ant! Ant!!" He yelled out for his friend futilely.

He was trying to smile down at Ruffus. "No, it'll be fine, okay? You'll go to the doctor, and you'll be fixed, and you can go back to your family. Yeah, you can just forget about this entire thing, and just have a happy time with the people who care about you..."

Despite his ramblings, he knew it was too late. "No. No, please, no. It's okay... it'll be okay, please, no... not again, please... I'm so sorry," he breathed out, dropping Ruffus' hand. "I'm so, so sorry..."

Ant let out a sigh. "I'd have it no other way," he said. "Though... the rules... would you be allowed to?"

Rick's attempts weren't in total vain. Hazel appeared to pause, if even for a moment. A split second of normalcy. However, that soon faded away. With her hand still crackling with electricity, Hazel started to mumble to herself. She approached Rick.

"Why?" she pressed. The young woman was furious... but, tears threatened to spill from her eyes. She was in pain, a horrible conflict. Magog was winning. "Why!" she cried out, becoming hysterical. The electricity began to intensity; Hazel was aiming to hurt. Bad.

"You destroyed our lives!" she then screamed. A strong current of electricity fired towards Rick.

Rick saw her eyes turn to normal for just a moment. He was relieved. He had no idea what was wrong with Hazel, but he took a step forward. He hoped to calm her. But then, she was gone. Rick had lost her. He watched with a horrified expression as Hazel gave into whatever was haunting her. He felt himself frozen. He didn't want to run. He couldn't attack her or try to stop her. "You destroyed our lives!" She screamed at him. Perhaps he had. Perhaps he had wronged her in some way that he hadn't seen. The sting of regret hit him moments before the lightning did. The electricity coursed through his veins and knocked him to the ground, where he began to convulse. Rick gritted his teeth, he would not scream. Waves of pain crashed over him and he could feel a tingling sensation, his skin crackling. "Hazel..." He said weakly, the effort to speak over the pain causing him to not be able to get above a whisper. "Please... don't blame yourself."

"Never thinking of how I felt!" Hazel continued to scream, approaching Rick yet again. "Or of how your actions..." she then bitterly muttered, placing her prosthetic on top of Rick. "Can affect others. Affect me." She was seething. It was hard to place who she was talking to, or what about exactly. It seemed vague.

The body below her began to talk. It still sounded like Cora... but, for a split second, she could have sworn...

Confusion only brought on pain; the young woman began to shriek. Fighting Magog had its faults.

Tuan paused in her approach towards Fen. She raised her eyes, glancing behind her. She felt something pulling at her artificial heart. Something was wrong.

Something was very wrong.
