Hazel's words struck Rick to his core. He had hurt Hazel in some way and the thought sickened him. What had he done to her? What had he done to make her say these things? Had he been responsible for making sure she fell to whatever force had warped her mind. Perhaps he had, in which case his fate was justified. He felt her prosthetic leg at his throat. Rick knew that this was how Hazel had killed her mother, by crushing her windpipe with her metal leg. It would be a quick death at least. Painful sure, but quick. "Hazel." He said weakly, the pain and the boot on his throat making it hard to talk. He was going to say more, and then she screamed.

Rick wanted to help her, he would do whatever it took to help Hazel. But there was nothing he could do. The burns on his arms were minor, but still sapped his strength. The massive amount of electricity that Hazel had sent coursing through his body had done the rest. His breathing was labored, he could feel his body shutting down. It was different than past situations... this was more final. He looked up at her and smiled a sad smile. With a bloody hand, he reached up and gently caressed her cheek. "Hazel... dear sweet Hazel..." Rick was struggling to find the words. "I'm so sorry for the pain I've caused you and the others..." He trailed off, gathering his strength for a moment. "I've been a fool... an idealistic, self-righteous fool..." Another pause to gather the breath to speak. "Please... get yourself the help you need..." Rick closed his eyes, he could feel himself fading away. "Ammy... my blades and armor are hers... and Mordic... tell her... tell her I..." Before he could finish the thought, Rick fell limp.

Meanwhile, a corvid perched upon Juliet's shoulder, crimson eyes observing the girl with a seemingly amused gaze.

Juliet reached up, idly petting the bird on her shoulder. "You feel it too... that dark feeling that hangs over it all like a storm cloud about to bring the thunder, lighting and torrential rains." She frowned. "It's been feeling this way for days and it doesn't seem to pass." Juliet sighed, her eyes not leaving the pages that she was absorbing at an incredible pace. "Somewhere in this library is the solutions that I need. And I cannot leave until I have them."

Corvus shifted her perch to the edge of the table, now in her human form. The woman simply hummed in musing. "Perhaps, perhaps not. Maybe the solution you seek isn't here at all." The corvid female was in a rather enigmatic mood, clearly.

Juliet smiled at the appearance of her friend's human form. It had been too long since they had caught up. Juliet would have loved to do their usual day on the town filled with shopping and gossip and laughter... but she had a mission to complete first. "Perhaps. But if there is a solution to be had, it will be here." Juliet said quietly. "There is no greater collection of texts on these things than my father's archives."

Just before Hazel could deliver any kind of fatal blow, her vision began to flicker. What appeared to be a familiar scene: the young woman staring down at her mother... her foot on her throat... ready to kill. It changed. Before Hazel could even process what was happening, the illusion of her mother faded away. Eve was already no where to be seen. Reality was resumed.

Hazel's face grew pale. Incredibly pale. "Oh my God..." she said, her voice quiet. She was in pure shock. "No..."

Her foot slowly slid off. She collapsed next to him. "Rick, please," Hazel said, "Please wake up... please..." She was beginning to grow desperate by this point, even attempting to gently shake him awake. Each attempt only grew more and more pathetic. "Someone help... please..."

Magog crossed the line this time but... she allowed it, didn't she? Hazel hurt him all on her on, with her skills. Her stupid, stupid skills. She always hated being a Beautel, and this was no exception. She was a monster.

The young woman began to sob uncontrollably over his body.

Ant smiled. "Let's go."

Rick's eyes eventually opened and he weakly looked at Hazel. Reaching out, he smiled at Hazel and gently took her hand in his. "Zel... I'm glad you came back to me." He said gently as he looked into her eyes. "I was worried you would hurt yourself..." He trailed off, not really appreciating how much damage she had done to him. "Don't worry about me... the others... they will need you... they can help you..." He smiled, once again reaching up to caress her cheek with his free hand. "I don't blame you... I just want you to know that."

idn't seem like anybody else had noticed, but the devices they were given had a secondary feature. They could showcase all the fights going on around the city to other participants.

Kai had only looked into it out of curiosity, but he was horrified whenhe found out. He had looked into Nova's battle first, only to see him struggling and then sweing things get more...heated. As such he had run off immediately, simply telling Kari to go along with him as they headed off.

"I should've known something like this would happen!" Kai called out as he ran alongside Kari, panicking and trying to move as fast as possible. "Everyone's been acting so unusual, I shouldn't have been acting like things would just be okay...I'm such an idiot!" He strode faster, his tone growing louder.

As they made it to the parj they were greeted by a crowd that had gathered around the panicking Nova, who was holding the remains of his opponent. Kai couldn't believe what he was looking a

t, he knew the full extent of Nova's powers but he never thought he would actually do somethinf like that. He felt, afraid.

He began walking towards his friend, cautious aa he didn't know how Nova would react. "Nova..." he said in a low, concerned voice as he walked closer.

Mordic was right, Fen stood opposite to her, or what remained of her. The blond haired man smiled as he saw her arrive, a grin on his face. "Well lady lucj is certainly on my side if I got you as my oponent," he pointed out. "Though it seems like my job was done before I did it," he added, his tone sounding more sinister as he glanced at the Wendigo

"I saw it coming from a mile away." Kari stated simply as she had seen the extent of what happened, "It was too late to change course though. This had to happen."

"Right," Bria smiled, "Though do you want to ruin that special shirt with his blood?"

She only offered him a cold stare. "Currently, I lack the capacity to care for your words." Likewise, Tuan's words were aloof and uncaring, as she took up a combative stance. "Do not waste your breath with petty remarks. You must fight with the intention to kill...and if you don't, you'll be a disgrace to your own kind... A disgrace I'll be perfectly happy to wipe away from this sorry earth." The draconian slits narrowed, the temperature around them dropping severely.

An overwhelming wave of relief washed over Hazel. He... was alive. Thank God he was alive. But, despite this discovery, self hatred undeniably came out on top. The sheer amount of disgust Hazel felt for herself was intense. How could she live with herself? She froze briefly.

How much worse could Magog get...?

Hazel only continued to sob. "No..." she managed to say, staring back down at him. She gently, and almost desperately, cupped one of her hands over his. "Please don't... I'm a monster... please... I'm only gonna get worse..."

"If it means getting rid of him," Ant mused. "It'd be worth it." And with that, he began to walk to his match, anger not evident, but definitely there.

"Now now, there's no need to be so bitter," Fen replied, waving his hand dismissively as he looked at Mordic. "But I can't turn down a match with you," he said with a grin as he turned back towards the Wendigo, grey colored energy beginning to surround him. "Come on beastie, I'll give you the first move."

Rick weakly shook his head. "No Hazel. You are no monster. The opposite." He coughed. "I don't know what ails you... but be strong for me. Be brave and fight it." Rick closed his eyes for a moment as his breathing became increasingly hitched and erratic. "One selfish request. Smile one last time for me?" He asked Hazel before his eyes closed once more and Hazel would feel his hand go limp.

Tuan's lip curled into a distasteful snarl at the insulting name, but she otherwise didn't show any other signs of outward annoyance. "You wish to know pain, then by all means, go ahead." Her arms began elongating to reform into their wendigo counterparts, flexing the massive, dagger-like talons. "It's been too long... Much too long. I've been asleep for eleven years."

Hazel tried to speak, to just think of the right way to say.... to convince him.... that she wasn't worth it. Tears continued to roll from her eyes; it felt impossible to stop.

"No... please don't say that..." she quietly murmured. It wasn't right of him to think what he did; she had absolutely no excuse for her behavior. Despite any underlying causes, or of Magog, it still happened. She still hurt him with her own hands. She was a monster. But, he didn't seem to understand that. And it killed her.

However, her face grew even more pained upon seeing his condition worsen. "Rick, please..." she pleaded. "Stay with me... I'm so sorry," she said in between sobs. "I promised..."

And then his hand went limp. Still keeping it grasped in her hand, she completely broke down. She couldn't smile. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't do it.

Bria just smiled as she gently grabbed onto Ant's hand. Him allowing her to be there and just being there for her meant way more than she could ever outwardly express. Something about holding his hand did provide a sense of comfort she didn't have prior. It also helped that this would annoy her ex to no end. She just looked up to Ant and smiled softly.

"Good tactic," Ant said with a smile. "Get him even more pissed. I love it."

At this point, Hazel didn't even care if a crowd was watching. She just simply continued to cry. She found comfort in one thing; From here on out, it wouldn't take too long. She could easily just create a spear of ice... and end it. Just end it all there.

No more Magog, no more pain, no more insanity... no loneliness. It would all be over. However, just as she began to delve deeper into irrational thought, the young woman noticed something. Faint. Rick's hand. She grasped onto it tighter.

It had an extremely weak pulse.

"Oh god please tell me we're on time!" Liza called out as she and Ammy ran up to the roof of the mall. After Kai had started panicking he told them to check up on Rick's and Hazel's own fight, of course once they saw what was going on they had to rush over. Liza panted as she stood in front of Hazel and Rick, her eyes staring at the two in shock and disbelief. "What the hell happened!?" she yelled as she ran over, kneeling down next to Rick.

"Of course... One simple-minded, such as yourself, wouldn't begin to understand." A rather cynical chuckle escaped her mouth, as she leisurely began approaching Fen, the area's temperature rapidly decreasing into the negative celsius range. "Do you know who I am? Who I truly am?"
